I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for deals this weekend, and will keep this post updated! A couple highlights from this post – jump below to the “Home” section for two awesome, reader-recommended couches on major sale, and also the “Beauty” section for a few skincare and haircare brands that don’t usually go on sale.

- Sophie Cardigan – Very versatile staple! See it on me here with jeans, here with a skirt, here simply over a black turtleneck dress, and here with 2 types of black bottoms for a few styling ideas! Size down if you’re debating between sizes. I have the camel “heather khaki” as pictured here in xxxs (I’m usually an xxs petite), and they just came out with a deeper brown color and lighter tan as well.
- Stretch twill blazer – one of the best blazers on the market. Clean cut with no lapel, flattering, comfortable due to the stretch and very petite friendly!
- Parke blazer – a very classic, tailored blazer that looks as good with jeans as it does with work pants. Lightweight wool with a slim fit cut.
- 60% off Shoe picks: Lightweight Gemma ballet flat + Collette D’orsay pumps (see on me)
- Mockneck sweater – very soft, and the heather acorn is a versatile true camel

Shaft height is listed as 14″ and circumference is listed as 10″ when un-stretched (the backing is elasticized and stretchy). H&M
The Deal: 20% off everything, free ship over $40 (Update: Sale has ended, but free ship over $40 is still going on!)
- Current version of one of my favorite chunky knit sweaters from years past, pictured above. For anyone looking for a truly chunky, thick and warm sweater with a more oversized slouchy cut. Not too long on me in the torso and looks great half tucked in the front. Sleeves are balloon style and on the longer side but you can push or cuff them up. Looking closely at the old and new versions, it looks like they made an update to the sleeve ribbing design but the material composition is exactly the same as mine. Here is another look at last year’s version on me.
- Other sweaters under $20: off the shoulder sweater, slouchy split hem tunic sweater
- Love their pleated skirts, which fit well at the waist. This one is more light and airy, while this one is a dressier fabric and midi length.
- My staple nursing camis that I plan on living in again after giving birth!
- Adorable kids arrivals for Fall! Note H&M baby & toddler sizing runs 1 size big!
- Organic cotton sweater + pants set – got the seafoam for Nori and little bro!

- Adorable cotton tunic dress + leggings set

Hi Jean. What do you feel are the differences between the BananaRepublic and JCrew trench coat? Which is more fitted in 00 petite? Which has more wrinkles? Thank you!
Hi Jean! I love all of your work/dressy recommendations. I recently purchased the Sophie sweater in an xs, which is my normal size and realized that it runs big. Do you recommend shrinking it by throwing it in the dryer for a few minutes?
Hi Lisa – as with most knots, I’m afraid I wouldn’t recommend putting the Sophie sweater blazer in the dryer. If the size isn’t quite right your best bet is probably to try exchanging it for the next size down.
Hey Jean! I just received my jcrew Sophie cardigan and I realized it’s dry clean only. Have u tried putting this cardigan in the wash before or strictly dry cleaned it?
Hi Sam, I wash mine minimally so can’t recall if I’ve done this with my sophie cardigan, but I wash a lot of my dry clean only sweaters on a delicate cycle. I turn it inside out and place it in a mesh garment bag, then dry flat on a mesh sweater rack – it’s key to keep it out of the dryer! I also use a sweater shaver on any pills. All of the products I use can be found on my Amazon page – https://www.amazon.com/shop/extrapetite?listId=QE5OYZ448WDZ
Thank you for replying back to me! I was introduced to your blog a couple of years back and now I look forward to all of your fashion recommendations and stories. I’ve bought a bunch of your recommendations and they are spot on. Now that I look great i also feel great when I walk out the door! I appreciate you and ur guide to showing us petite women that we can look as well as the tall models!
Hi Jean,
I love browsing through the sites you recommend, many I’ve not heard about!
Have you any recommendations for scents,
both to wear and for your home?
Hi Cat, I typically go scent free but in the past I have loved Jo Malone (which is on the pricier side, but lasts a long time!)
Can you link the couch that has the ottoman turn into a twin bed? I am trying to find it.
Hi Sarah – it’s from IKEA and is linked at the top of this blog post: https://www.extrapetite.com/2020/07/macys-sofa-sale-jollene-martha-stewart-saybridge-couch-review.html
Thank you for the jcrew Sophie sweater sale alert. I almost bought it a couple days ago, good thing I waited! I used your link, thank you..
So many great things to shop! I just scoured Macy’s and love all their deals.
Maureen
That H&M chunky sweater looks so good on you! Does the sweater shrink in the wash or a bit itchy since it has some wool in the fabric?
Hi Olyvia – I air dry it or dry on a sweater rack and haven’t noticed notable shrinking! Due to the wool content it’s not a super soft sweater, especially compared to fully acrylic or synthetic sweaters, but I usually wear a cami or something underneath so don’t find it itchy.
I totally forgot that the labor day sale is on. But, I actually saved on my last minute buys from Macys and the SkinStore with the deals you have mentioned. Thanks for taking time to find out these amazing deals
The Crewneck Sweatshirt looks so pretty! I love the colors!
Hi Jean, thanks for the petite-friendly boots options. I’m exactly 5 foot tall and I can never find pretty boots that don’t fold over my knees. Shorter ones are oh so ugly. Anyway, thanks for curating this.
Hi Jean! I have a question on the Stuart Weitzman boots, I’ve been eyeing them all week since they went on sale. I have been reading reviews to no avail to identify if they are narrow or not from the front since they do not have a wide width available. I’m a size 5.5 and my feet are on the wider side so wanted to make sure they won’t be too cramped in these since they are final sale and I can’t really go to any stores right now. Any insights you have will be highly appreciated!
Hi Akanksha – have you tried any SW boots in the past? I did try on this specific sale style but it was half a year ago so my memory is a little fuzzy, but I believe it felt similar to their almond toe OTK boots like the Lowland, Midland, Tieland, etc in terms of narrowness. If your feet are on the narrow side and you haven’t tried on SW boots in person before, it might be too risky.
Hi Jean,
In regards to simple, clean wall clocks, have you heard of the American made Tait Design wall clocks? I recently ordered two “slate” coloured ones and am looking forward to receiving them.
https://www.taitdesignco.com/wall-clock
Hi Pam, hope all is well with you and the family! I haven’t come across that brand before and the designs certainly are clean and beautiful. We needed numerical clocks for our house but always nice to learn about new brands.
Thanks Jean, we’re getting ready to return back to school. I like numerical clocks too, especially for teaching kids how to read analog clocks.
On another note, thanks so much for recommending the A&F asymmetrical snap-up and balloon sleeve sweatshirt. I just purchased it and like the coziness of the asymmetrical snap-up and the sweatshirt will be one I can wear out of the house. I don’t usually purchase casual wear, but I’m starting to see the value in purchasing nice ones.
I hope your last trimester is going smoothly and all the best on your delivery.
I totally forgot it was labor day weekend!
Hi Jean! I got a sample of the Honeymoon Glow serum, and when I applied it my face started stinging/burning and was red for over a day. I didn’t use the whole sample. Did you have a similar experience? I’m scared to use the rest of the sample. It’s so highly rated by others that I feel like I may have just had an allergic reaction or something?
Hi Kimi – the serum contains AHA which may tingle for some and usage should be built up gradually over time (the instructions say start by using 2 times a week and build up usage from there). But it shouldn’t be painful or cause something like you described unless you had an allergic reaction!
I’ve been meaning to say this for a while but it’s sad that you advertise for AF. It doesn’t matter what they’re trying to say now to avoid criticisms because it’s only a business tactic strategy.
I am comfortable with shopping at the brand. The article you keep sharing with me was written 6 years ago and it actually concludes on how the brand has a chance to turn around with different leadership.
