Express has a few work staples with great reviews that come back season after season in different colors. One example is my old favorite tie waist pant (in the “short” inseam, see my review), and I more recently tried this blazer and was impressed by the slim, shapely fit! The “cabernet” wine color just got marked down today so petite sizes are going quickly, and I’m hoping they’ll add more colors soon in petites. I took these photos during mild weather on the west coast, but you can easily add charcoal grey or black tights to winterize it for a cold day.
This skirt also fit me quite well off the rack and has made several appearances already in blog posts – you may remember it here in outfit #3 and here in outfit #5. As a reminder this is a stretchy pull-on style knit skirt with a full lining and elasticized waistband, which helps give it a closer, curve-grazing fit.
Outfit Fabric Details & Measurements:
Notch collar blazer (Cabernet color is on sale)
Slightly stretchy, medium weight suiting material that is machine washable and fully lined. Slim fit throughout the torso and sleeves. They also make a few pant options in the same color (like these ankle pants) if you want a coordinating suit!
00 petite measures 14.5″ across the shoulders, 15″ armpit to armpit, 13″ across the waist, 21.75″ shoulder to sleeve hem, and 22″ total length.
Peplum sweater
Lightweight ribbed sweater with a petite friendly, shorter “shrunken fit” cut (fit runs small) and 3/4 sleeves. xxs regular measures 19″ from shoulder to hem.
Stretch splatter skirt (on sale)
Light to medium weight, very stretchy material that’s fully lined. Compared to their similar non stretch skirts, this runs smaller with no waist gap on me. XXS Petite measures 12.5″ across the waist, 15.5″ across the hips, 22.5″ length. No zipper due to stretchy pullover style.
Plaid pencil skirt:
If you like a more structured fabric, I also tried on this one which is more like a suiting fabric. It’s non stretch, lined, and fits bigger than the knit one above. 00 petite measures 13″ across the waist, 17″ across the hips, 20″ length with 5″ back slit and back zipper entry.
Thank you to Express for partnering on this post.
Happy New Year!! You look so cute and pretty! 🙂
Love the chic outfit and those fabulous sandals!!
I like the burgundy color of your jackets, it ads some emphasis your look. And this basque on your blouse looks so cute!
That blazer is great! Wines and burgundies are becoming my new favorite neutrals.
hey jean, can you show how you tuck your shirts into pants and skirts without lumps showing around the waist/butt area? Yours just look so smooth !! thanks!
Wow, I can’t believe how well that blazer fits you off the rack! As fellow petite, I know how hard it can be for things like blazers to fit well!
Thank you for showing 2 different ways to wear the top! So helpful as I would not have thought to tuck in the peplum top!
You look amazing!
I like it! Not too much of a fun of wine colored clothing, but I do looove that skirt!
Thanks for Sharing!
Xx Janine
Love the office-wear, Jean!
Happy Wednesday,
Michael
