I can’t believe Memorial Day weekend is around the corner! I’ve started packing some of my comfiest tees and stretchy, elastic waist bottoms in anticipation of indulging in my dad’s BBQs and mom’s home cooking. And on the topic of comfortable casual wear, I’m partnering with Express to share two versatile, petite-friendly pieces and a few ideas on how to style them! They are having 40% off everything for the holiday weekend, so be sure to check out my other recommendations below (and old favorites like these jeans and linen ruffle top).
Wrap front maxi skirt
The possibilities are endless with a black maxi skirt, and I especially love one with a slight opening to show a peek of leg. Some of my go-to black skirt pairings include: 1) with a delicate black cami to create the look of a maxi dress, 2) with a lightweight button down shirt knotted casually at the waist, or 3) with sneakers + a tucked in striped tee.
This skirt by Express is similar to an old one I have, but is made of a better quality, medium-weight material that feels like stretch crepe and drapes nicely. The waistband is elastic, and the petite length is actually short enough for me to wear with flats (I’m 5′ tall, for reference). If it’s windy out, you may want to use a little fashion tape or a small safety pin to secure the wrap shut at your thigh.
Camo print tee
If you don’t yet own a camo print piece, it actually makes a great neutral and pairs easily with beige, black, white, as well as blue denim. I’m wearing this super soft and stretchy crewneck tee, and it also comes in a V neck style if you prefer that neckline. The length hits at my hips so I used an elastic hair tie to knot it up and show off the waistline on this skirt.
I’ve also worn this tee with a beige cardigan and half-tucked into these high waisted white shorts (LOVE) which fit perfectly in 00 regular. You can also style it simply with dark skinny jeans (these jeans are a classic – see them on me in 00 short) and a utility jacket.
Thank you to Express for partnering on this post. You can use code 7416 for $25 off $100 either in-store or online (see coupon terms and conditions).
I pretty much bought this whole outfit minus the Gucci belt (one day!) but got the alt 🙂 . Love your style!!!
I’ve never seen camo print look so chic and formal before.
Amazing creativity with this look 🙂
I can’t believe Memorial Day is just around the corner either. Where has the time gone? I love casual wear and this camo tee needs to be in my closet ASAP! I like the idea of tying a knot. It really does wonders for the waistline!

The promo code expires May 15 even though you posted this on May 22nd . . . But you’re beautiful and I love you’re style 🙂 Thanks for introducing me to clothes that ACTUALLY FIT
Oh hmm! They told me that code gets renewed on a rolling basis (so shouldn’t expire until the end of this year) but I see the T&C may need to be updated. Thanks for pointing that out though and for the kind words! That code isn’t combinable with other deals so the current 40% off is much better : )
Thanks for sharing such a nice post.
Love this skirt so much!
I love your outfit Jean, looking great!

Love this edgy look!
Love these looks! Would love to see a post on how you knot/tuck in shirts!
Hi! Have you checked out my recent IGTV video on Instagram? I showed how I do knots like this (simply with a hair tie) and half tuck tees.
I can’t find this video. Can you direct me?
I bought that O-ring belt from Express and really like it. Thanks so much for finding an alternate to the Gucci. You’re awesome!
So glad you like it, Val! I thought it was such a great and sturdy alternative for those who want something more subtle.
