Flattering distressed denim // 2 petite friendly options

best jeans for petite women reviews

Express jeans 00 (also in petite), Soludos shoes 5, H&M nursing tank xs, Baublebar necklace, J.Crew coat (old; similar), Hermes belt

For fans of distressed denim, I wanted to share two affordable options with slightly different cuts!

1. Express Raw Hem Cropped Legging Jeans

First up, these by Express are some of the best jeans I’ve found in a while. I first posted them last month on Intsashop – if you’re not familiar with this page, I try to update there right when I discover a good find, while items are well in stock (so bookmark it and check every so often!). Small sizes in these jeans sold quickly, but I did see 00 and 0 pop back several times last week!

These jeans are very cropped in length with a mid / high 9″ rise. I tried them on in petite as well as regular, and while both fit me well, I decided to keep the regular as a full length jean. 00 petite has a 23” inseam and 00 regular has a 25” inseam, and note that inseam usually increases a bit with waist size. The waist felt true to size, and the material is a very comfortable, stretchy medium weight denim.

2. LOFT DESTRUCTED SKINNY JEAN (IN MODERN OR CURVY)

As an alternative, LOFT (40% off this weekend!) is another one of my favorite spots for affordable petite jeans, with tons of washes / cuts and even maternity petite! This style below has a very similar wash with subtle distressing, but a slightly longer inseam (26″ on 24 Petite) and slightly lower rise (with a 1-2″ waist gap on me).

I kept the Express ones since they fit me best, but these might suit some ladies better depending on your body type! It also comes in curvy if you have a bigger waist to hip ratio. For fit reference, I’m a little under 5 feet tall with 24″ – 32″ waist to hip.

Thank you for sharing your story, Nori is absolutely beautiful like her mama. You are helping many out there by being so open.
I have never made a comment before but wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog and IG posts. I especially love your casual outfits with high end accessories, your Gucci belt post was excellent (and I like to add that all the previous Paris shopping reviews are so fun) I really enjoyed your recent posts on heels vs flats/sneakers, super helpful, more please! Your attention to detail is so appreciated. Thank you for a fun, well written gorgeouos blog and thank you for being REAL. Also wanted to let you know that your cooking posts are very appreciated too.
Makes me mad that you have to endure those nasty comments from miserable people with no life.
Please know that your loyal followers of your blog and IG are here for you and we absolutely love what you do.

Do you think 52 is too old to wear distressed jeans? I’d like to look stylish without going overboard.

I’m 64 and wear modestly distressed jeans… Do what you feel suits you, and forget about age limits! I love Jean’s style, which seems agelessly classic to me, but if you want to take a look at additional ways a mature woman can rock fashion, take a look at Accidental Icon’s blog. And remember to have fun!

Jean, I love the distressed denim look! But as a young mom, I spend a ton of time on my knees (e.g. to pick up toys, play with baby etc.). The constant kneeling down makes “distressed” patches quickly turn into gaping holes, so I end up with big holes at the knees. I’m not sure if it is just me (maybe I have pointy knees?!).

Any recommendations for distressed jeans where the distressing is NOT located on the knee area? Or any suggestions for preventing distressed knees from turning into knee holes?

I’ve never tried Express or Loft’s products before! I get all my denim pieces from the kids’ sections of brands – right now I’m wearing a pair of pants for 7 year olds from Forever 21 Girls, haha! ❤️ Definitely going to check the options you mentioned out, thanks Jean! 🙂
