On Nick: BR slim traveler pants, J.Crew shirt (similar), Sperry boots
On Nori: Hope & Henry cardigan (also worn here), baby Gap bear beanie
We spent the vast majority of this week vegging out in pajamas and fuzzy slippers (nothing better!), but cleaned up a bit to join both of our families for Christmas Eve service. Just as we were leaving the house, it started to snow big, fluffy flakes, which gave Nori, Nick and his San Diego-based family a taste of their very first white Christmas (even if it was only momentary before turning into rain)! Thanks to Nori’s “Instagrampa” who always has a camera on him, and insisted on capturing the moment for us.
Since both sides of our families were visiting, we rented a bigger space in the Boston area. I got so many requests on Instagram for the airbnb listing! And if you’re new to airbnb, here’s my referral link for $40 off a booking. The owner said they haven’t updated the calendar for 2019 yet, but if you’re planning a visit to Boston, you could bookmark the listing and check back later. This home was a 4-bedroom unit inside a multi-family building in Brookline, MA, and had a subway station steps away so you could get to downtown Boston in ~15 – 20 minutes. It was kid friendly with a playhouse and rock climbing wall (see pics below), had a well stocked kitchen for cooking (and several restaurants within walking distance), but my favorite feature had to be the spa-like steam shower!
I’ve had this midi skirt for a while (it’s currently on extra sale + available in many colors) and like how it’s easy to pair with either tights or bare legs. It’s made of a weightier fabric in a very swingy circle cut, with a lining, elastic-backed waist (for a touch of stretch), and pockets! See it styled for a more office-friendly look here or paired with the same top but more Parisian flair here. Note the XXS sizing in this runs very narrow across the waist (fits 22 to 24″ waists) and is below the knees on someone my height. Instead of getting it hemmed, I’ve been wearing it lazily with the waistband folded over once.
My plaid scarf is also on super sale, and was last featured on here as a cape! I packed this to cozy up in on the couch while watching holiday movies, and it folds up to double as a regular scarf.
This outfit is so beautiful! I love your style. I am, ahem! NOT a tiny petite like you, but I still appreciate the inspiration of feminine, classic, beautiful style. I love the colors you wear, rich and full without being screechy, which is hard to find. Thank you for sharing.
Love you, Jean! Nori is precious. I appreciate you helping me with my style impairment. Happy New Year!
I think its a personal choice. Klara your comments aren’t very nice, your intentions of being concerned is not coming across well. Jean’s blog has always been up-close and personal which is why she has so many followers.
That is such a disgustingly rude comment. Never have I ever met someone with such little class. You should be ashamed of yourself and your parents should have raised you to be a better person.
“He who is without faults may cast the first stone.”
Your baby is cute (as ALL babies ;-)) but I really don’t understand why you have to “show her off” and present her to the world in social media.
I think it was brave that you talked so openly about the way you tried to get pregnant (IVF etc), and I am glad my own body worked “better” and I didnt have to go through that process;
but I find it somehow irresponsible to present your child so publicly. What is the reason for that? I understand that every parent is proud and happy and wants to Show their child to everyone… but Isn’t it enough to show it without the face and maybe just once and not so often… ? Even babies actually have some general right of personality. … Yeah they do. I would very much fear the misuse of the photos, especially, like in your case, when having so many followers and having a high reach. Do you really feel the need to hunt for likes? Think about your baby first…
It’s a personal decision that many parents make. Should our child decide once she’s a little older that she does not want to be in photos, we will definitely respect her wishes.
Klara,
I am not sure which is more offensive, your clear lack of empathy and insensitivity for Jean’s struggle with IVF in telling her that your body worked “better” or your clear mis-read of Jean’s blog that she is hunting for likes. She has always (and consistently) shared her opinions and life in an upfront, honest, warm and genuine way. Her choices may not be yours and so be it. If you were trying to come across as concerned you completely missed it with your judgement tone. (Jean, Happy New Year and Merry Christmas! I’m happy your little rays of sunshine brighten my news feed. Wishing you, Nick and Nori so many more adventures in 2019!) 🙂

What a strange comment to leave?
Jean – would love to know what brand if tights you buy and what color tights would, you wear with a navy skirt/dress?
Hi Lucy, I have Talbots tights (love their navy which is a nice true dark navy, not too blue) and also a few pairs of Wolford which are nice quality! With a navy skirt I would do dark gray or black. I know some ppl are iffy about pairing navy with black but it’s one of my favorites in the winter!
Great pictures Jean, Happy Holidays and blessings.
Thank you, Rachel, wishing you a very happy holidays & new year!
Aww how cool that you captured this moment with a pic! Your outfit is super cute!
