Fellow tulle lovers, what better time than the holidays (NYE in particular!) to unleash your inner ballerina? Previously I’ve loved pairing tulle with festive plaid (see here) or a fitted sweater, but velvet has won me over this year. This velvet top from JCF runs slim, and looks gorgeous tucked into either flared or pencil style skirts. The top is on crazy sale right now with code OHWHATFUN making it ~ $13 (!!). Unfortunately green is sold out but the indigo is also very pretty (see on me), or the black is a subtle way to do velvet (check out Madewell for a semi similar option still available in green).
I’ve shared a range of tulle options below, or you can try your hand at my DIY tulle skirt tutorial!
– Modcloth tulle skirt (under $40, XXS and up)
– Maison Jules tulle with pearls skirt (under $50, XS and up)
– Brooks brothers dotted tulle skirt (0 and up)
– Halogen midi tulle skirt
I got Nori this little coordinating outfit for our holiday photos, but we never did succeed in getting a family picture together ; ) This little houndstooth cardigan is just darling though and I wish it came in my size (goes up to kids L so should fit a young teen). The skirt was longer than I thought, so would be cuter on babies that could walk. It does have practical bloomer shorts with snaps underneath, which I appreciate!
I wore this outfit for a press event last week celebrating the new “Fondue Express” gondola at the Ocean House hotel. This was one of the most charming pop-ups from the retrofitted ski gondola down to the cozy throws and heated interior. It was my first time ever trying fondue, and we enjoyed learning about this age-old Swiss tradition!
Love that green velvet, actually I love any color in velvet!
Hey there Jean!
I absolutely love your fashion tips! I was looking up on the selection of over the knee boots you’ve posted and have discovered that those Marc Fisher OTK boots are no longer available. Do you have any recommendations of similar options? Maybe where to find those somewhere else? Please let me know if you can! Thank you for all your inspiration!
You look amazing, Jean! I love the colour of your top! 🙂

Cute outfit for both you and baby Nori. The houndstooth blazer looks pretty dang adorable! I have tried fondue only once and it’s so good! I hope you guys had a great time!

So cute! That box bag will be great when Nori is big enough to dress as an 80s business woman with her briefcase. 🙂
Lol!
Everything is so lovely… but why, oh, why does your baby always have the turban thingy on? It’s not always so cute…
It’s a stretchy, breathable hat that actually stays on her head as an extra layer. Not sure why anyone would need to be bothered by it.
How sweet – I’ve actually sown a circle skirt for a friend’s baby girl a year ago from a sewing blogger’s tutorial. At that time, I was interested in sewing my own clothes and thought to start easy with skirts. It led me to sewing a white tulle skirt (unlined) as a quick fix to wear over this second-hand blue patterned Anthropologie skirt that originally had a single layer of delicate tulle (my guess is it had been accidentally damaged). It was fun, but I would love to make a complete tulle skirt – thanks for sharing your tutorial with your fabric tips!
That’s so creative and the “fixed up” result sounds gorgeous!
Gorgeous look!
Such a cute outfit! And I love your daughter’s one too!

Omg so many things I want to comment, I don’t know where to start haha!
First of all: I don’t know which part of your outfit here is my favorite, it’s just perfect! You put that together so well.
Nori’s outfit is the absolute cutest, that little head turban is to die for!
And last but not least, that press trip sounds heavenly, a fondue experience in a heated gondola?? Yes, please!
