This striped tee has been a “mom uniform” staple (it’s also available in a striped short sleeve version). The slightly looser, swingy cut is forgiving on a postpartum figure, and the long sleeves and hip length are great for layering. In addition to the looks in this post, I’ve been switching it up subtly – with an oversized scarf and long cardigan for a cozy look, or with a utility jacket and booties. The tag on this shirt says to hand wash and dry flat, but I’ve been machine washing and drying it with no problems so far. Since it’s mostly cotton, it did shrink a bit in the dryer.
I was so stoked to break out my beloved Zella midi leggings again! The stretchy, snug higher-waist style helps hold everything in. These are their signature Live-In leggings in a shorter length (petite-friendly 24″ inseam), and I also saw they have a lower-priced line at Nordstrom Rack with a midi style. I haven’t tried the Z by Zella leggings yet, but based on reviews they seem to be slightly lower quality than the original but still highly reviewed.
Some of you may remember these Sole Society block heels from years past (see more photos of them on me here or here). This popular taupe color is back this year with most sizes still in stock! Love the straight cut across the front, which is very flattering on the leg. They also come in a chic leopard print!
We took Nori on her first road trip recently to visit my parents in upstate New York. Nick and I have been in survival mode, eating mostly frozen food and delivery for a few weeks, so I was longing for Mom’s home cooking! She is big on “garden to table” and has been perfecting her pan seared buns using fresh veggies and herbs from her garden. So scrumptious with a side of comforting hot congee!
Nick’s reward as the driver was a stop at the popular Tree House Brewing Co in Western MA. He promised me it’d be a “quick pit stop,” but we were in for a surprise when the line was hours long and wrapped around the parking lot! I saw brave parents with multiple babies, kids, and pets in tow toughing it out for the chance to buy some coveted cans. Nick was sad to retreat empty-handed, but we visited again on the drive back to Boston (prepared to camp out this time) and there was no line at all!
Nori has basically been living in these L’oved Baby footies (love the light gray and mauve colors). I bought so many cute sets and outfits for her before she was born, but a one-piece footie has just been so much easier! This brand is great quality with a medium-thicker weight, organic cotton and sturdy snaps. We stick with zippers for overnight (for quick diaper changes while mom and dad are in a zombie-like state) but these snaps have not been bad at all during daytime. The Newborn size fit her out of the hospital at 6 to 7 lbs, and the 0-3 month size fit optimally on her at 9-11 lbs.
Great photos. A season of bountiful Harvest.
Love seeing the two of you in matching outfits and above all, seeing you going out as a family after Nori’s rather rough start. Love, Lieske
Was wondering if you could share your thoughts on the Everlane jeans? They’re really reasonably priced and love the color!
Super cute looks!

I bought a pair of similar taupe Sole Society shoes that you recommended a couple of years ago (with a thin heel, not a block heel) and while I love the way they look, they are the most uncomfortable shoes I own! Are these any better? I think you said once in passing that Nick comments on you complaining about wearing heels all day around town, so maybe you do feel the pain but are tougher than I am…
Hi, Jean! Glad yal had a nice trip.. the autumn colors are so pretty! We wont really get that here until mid to late november, its still very green here. ☺🌲

Cute post, looks like your family had tons of tun! I love your top – I don’t really like ruffle details myself but you styled it so well, Jean! Also, those Shanghainese dumplings look scrumptious. I want some now! 🙂
