Happy Nordstrom Anniversary Sale day! “Bump” and I had fun shopping a preview, although I felt like a zoo specimen with gawks from strangers left and right and a multitude of “you must be due next week…or tomorrow!” comments ; ) Luckily, my feet have stayed the same size (bracing myself for the final month) so I made a beeline for the shoe department, and had my trusty measuring tape to gauge fit on everything else! Read on for my sale reviews, and a special giveaway at the bottom!

1. Sam Edelman Maurine Bootie – $99.90, originally $170 – (3 colors, sz 4-13)
Sam Edelman is one of my go-to brands for sandals and booties, but their prices can get up there. The introductory discount on these is huge! The caramel suede is a versatile neutral, and you can also adjust the ankle opening slightly with the buckle. I was worried the buckle might be uncomfortable but it is not at all (hits above my ankles), and the suede on these is so pliable and soft.

2. Blondo Waterproof Ankle Boots – $99.90, originally $150 – (4 colors, sz 5-12, TTS)
Blondo has been on my radar for a while for their waterproof boots! I was so excited to see fashion meets function in this very classic ankle bootie. The leather feels durable (“cognac” looks better in-person than online and is a true medium brown), the 2.5″ block heel is stable and manageable, and the ankle opening is not too gaping on me. I’m trying on a sz 6 (smallest in store) and ordered my usual size online. For reference, I take 5 or 5.5 in most shoes, and usually get the latter in boots to fit cotton socks.
There is also a taller, below-the-knee version of these waterproof boots which I ordered to try after seeing these magical words in the item description: “Shorter knee-high shaft; ideal for petite customers.”

3. Blank NYC convertible faux leather jacket – $98 – (3 colors, TTS)
A thicker moto jacket that fit best amongst a whole bunch that I tried. The convertible aspect is just a bonus – simply button-snap the hood on for a more casual, street-style look. Blank NYC does a great job on their affordable, faux leather materials. The outer here is pebbled and fairly matte, accented with deep-toned hardware. The sleeve length on me is at the cusp of not needing hemming. Measurements of XS (the sturdy material takes up some thickness): 15″ across shoulders, 17″ across underarms, 20″ length, 23″ long sleeves. In comparison, this Blank NYC jacket that I have blogged multiple time is pretty different. That older one is more cropped and “shrunken fit,” with narrower sleeves and a thinner material than this.

4. Cole Haan Tali Bow Flats – $119 – (sz 4-12, runs 1/2 size big)
Super sleek, feminine flats that are perfect for work or regular wear. They make the feet look so dainty and the pointed front did not cramp my toes! Quality is very nice with leather uppers, leather lining, and a rubber sole. The only non-rave reviews are due to sizing, and I did find these to run half a size big (trying on 4.5 here). Color choice is tough amongst 3 versatile neutrals, a classic “pop of color” red, or the the gorgeous leopard with black bow.
This style also comes in a low, 1.75″ block heel pump! I think the “waterproof” in the title must be a typo, as that would be too good to be true (Update: Thank you to a reader Wendy for letting me know it says waterproof on the actual shoes! Amazing!). Based on the item description, these might not run big like the flats do.
5. Topshop Jamie jeans – $49.90, originally $80 – (petite & regular available; waist runs very small)
Boy do I miss wearing my high-waisted jeans! I’ve raved about Topshop Jamie jeans so many times before (see older posts), as they do an amazing job of “holding” the tummy in for that super streamlined, leg-lengthening look. I saw these in-person and they are a slimming, true dark blue with a slight step-hem great for showing off your shoes or ankle booties.
Sizing info (can be confusing): First number is for waist, second number is for length. 30 length is considered “regular” and usually = a 26″ inseam or shorter, 28 length is considered “petite” and usually = a 24″ inseam or shorter. Waist runs very small so I would go up at least one from your usual denim size. Pre-pregnancy, I wore 23 to 24 in most jeans, but sometimes size 25 x 28 in Topshop would still be too snug.

6. Tory Burch Ballet Flat or low pumps – save over $80 – (sz 4-13, TTS)
Nordstrom had a similar version last year that sold out quickly during Early Access! Once again these are sleeker and more flattering on the feet than typical Tory Burch flats, as they have a feminine almond toe (vs. their traditional round toe), a smaller logo medallion, and show just a hint of toe cleavage on me. Plus they don’t have the unbearable elasticized back of TB Revas! These would also make a great work and commuting shoe.

7. Longchamp convertible tote – save $65 – (5 colors)
An NSale classic, this expandable tote also tends to sell out on the first day! I wanted to show the size against a 5 foot tall frame. When not expanded, the capacity is good for everyday school or work use. When expanded, it should work as an overnight or weekender bag. I have a few Longchamp totes and they are very easy to clean just by washing in warm water with a little soap, then hanging dry.

8. Barefoot Dreams cardigan – $76.90, originally $116
Another NSale classic that you guys absolutely loved in previous years! It’s insanely plush and soft, just note the cocoon length is a little long on shorter ladies (I have the sleeves cuffed up). I’ve gifted these to my mom and aunts and will likely be living in it myself post-partum. For a low-maintenance color, the “Pacific blue” actually seems very versatile and is more of a gray hue! I reviewed both cardigan & cami here in more detail (also see it on me here).
9. BP lace trim satin cami – $22.90, originally $35 – (4 colors)
So glad they brought this best seller back! White is a little sheer, so if you want something more opaque, the jewel tone green is beautiful. These little adjustable-strap camis are surprisingly easy to pair … I wore it super casually above, but also see it on me here with jeans, here with white trousers, and a similar cami here with tie-waisted pants!
10. Lancome Bi-Facial Trio ($150 for two 1.69 oz serums + small eye cream; $236 value)
Both Nick and I have been using this serum (apply before moisturizer) now since my relatives in China introduced it to us a few years back (they use it religiously over there!). I don’t believe in skincare miracles, but we both do feel that use of this over time contributes to smoother and more even skin tone (and so far so good on fighting major wrinkles). This year’s NSale value set comes with an extra little eye cream, and it qualifies for the 7-piece PLUS bonus free gifts with purchase so you get a lot of freebies! You can split the value set with a friend, or give one as a gift. Read customer reviews for this serum here.
Okay here’s just one more … Diptyque mini candle set ($55; $75 value) because it always sells quickly! I get them annually for gifts (always very well received). And if you’re “gifting to self,” the scents go a long way with even a light burn, so the mini candle sizes last a good amount of time!

– 1. STATE leopard pump (also in solid colors) – $59.90, originally $90 – (sz 5-12)
I always get questions on my old leopard pumps, which are basically neutrals in my book! My local store did not have these, but this brand usually runs TTS for me. The low cut dip front + open d’orsay side is usually a very leg-flattering combo.

– La Canadienne Waterproof Stefanie boot – save $170 – (comes in suede or leather; sz 5-12)
Several of you have recommended this premium, waterproof boot brand to me over the years! My similar Aquatalias are still going strong, but I wanted to review these for anyone interested. I tried on a ton of tall boot arrivals in-store, and none of them were petite-friendly except for this style. There is still a 1″ gap or so at the top opening on me, but would probably be close with jeans or fleece tights on. The upper foot and shaft are insulated for warmth, and feel very soft and cushioned throughout. Nearly all the non-5 star reviews are complaints about a narrow calf fit, which is great news for ladies who need that!

– Nike Free RN shoes – $74.90 from $100 (3 colors, sz 5-12)
My all-time favorite sneaker style. So lightweight, stretchy, and comfortable it’s like walking or working out on air. The “rose / gunsmoke” color is actually quite pretty in-person (a light rose pink). My poorly lit photo above does not do it justice.
– Nike Air Max Thea sneakers – $78.90 from $105 (sz 5-12)
Another popular, very lightweight sneaker with a more stylish, street look. This grey color is also lighter & nicer in-person!
– BP leopard oblong scarf – under $13 – (see last year’s on me)

– Zella leggings
Since so many of you are interested in (or are already fellow fans of) Zella leggings, I wanted to recap 5 different sale options here. I own and adore two pairs of the high waist live-in leggings, basically “living in” these pre-pregnancy:
High rise live-in regular leggings (Sale – $35.90) – 29″ inseam is loong (but alterations did not cost much)
High rise live-in midi leggings (Not on sale – $54) – 24″ inseam is perfect for me as full-length leggings
My cousin, who’s the same size as me pre-pregnancy, has a few pairs of Zella kids leggings (Sale – $22.90) in size 10-12(L) and really likes them for yoga and light workouts! I actually never tried hers on – I felt them and noticed the material was definitely thinner, but if you don’t mind that, then their kids lines is a great price and may fit extra petite ladies without alterations! They also have maternity live-in leggings on sale with a 27″ inseam, and high rise “lite” live-in crops with a short 20″ inseam.

– Caslon high/low tunic – $29.90, originally $49 – (starts in xxs petite)
This slouchy fleece-lined top is back from last year, albeit in only a few petite colors! Looks very drab online but the slouchy silhouette and dolman sleeves are more casual-chic once it’s on!

– Leith ribbed cocoon cardigan – $45.90, originally $69 – (5 colors, xxs to xxl)
Similar style as last year but in a lightweight ribbing and actually a little shorter in length this time. I’m a big fan of slouchy circle cuts and this Fall-perfect brown spice (a beautiful burnt orange) color, but fit is still a tad long on someone 5 feet (I have the sleeve cuffed as well).

– BlankNYC suede moto jacket – $125.90, originally $188 – (2 colors)
Love the deep olive suede color, but XS fits a little big on me and sleeves would need hemming. Would recommend to someone who is usually a size 0 to 2. I have gotten the majority of my moto jacket sleeves altered though with zippers, so don’t let that be too big of a deterrent if you love everything else!
– 1901 trench coat with vest – $112.90, originally $169 – (starts in xxs petite)
Ordered this for my mom who’s visiting this weekend! Looks classic and sounds very promising with the dual layers.
– Tahari wool-blend wrap jacket – $169.90, originally $268 – (starts in Petite P, which fits like Petite XS)
My mom typically wears 0 petite (she’s 5’2″ and and 105lbs) and LOVED this! See it on her here. Very elegant like a trench but can also be thrown on like a thick long cardigan. However, just like all “doublefaced wrap” style jackets on the market, note this is unlined so is best worn over a long sleeve top or sweater. The “sea grey” is a classic navy-grey shade.
– 1901 bow front crop tweed jacket – $89.90, originally $139 – (starts in 00p)
See this on me. Beautiful but note the bows are not secured so they may come undone & need to be re-tied.
– Halogen scallop edge sweater – $39.90, originally $59 – (starts in xxs petite)
See this on my mom in XSP. Sold out fast last year but back in tons of colors! An elevated basic that would look especially nice tucked into a skirt.
– Halogen long cardigans -$42.90, originally $79 – (starts in xxs petite)
I had my eye on SO many cute-looking long cardigans from this year’s sale, but unfortunately the majority of them were overwhelming, even in petite sizing. I love a relaxed or slouchy look, but most of the ones I tried on crossed that line! This Halogen one was an exception and makes a good basic (see their linen one on me in xxs petite). You get the longer duster length that is on-trend and elongating, while the petite sizing helps it look proportionate and not sloppy at the arms/sleeves. This is another good one by Halogen in a slightly longer length and thicker material (FYI some colors have striped vs solid sleeves).

-*UPDATE* Ingrid & Isabel Maternity Active Pants – $29.99, original $78
Fellow mamas to be – these are NOT part of the Anniversary sale (so anyone can shop, cardholders or not!), and just got temporarily marked down with all sizes in stock! These thick, sturdy leggings are my absolute favorite maternity bottoms for working out, travel, or running errands. Sz XS has lasted me from late first trimester through the third so far because the belly panel can be worn either fully up or folded down. And cropped length = no hemming needed! I have another pair of maternity active pants from Old Navy, but the panel only reaches mid-belly so is not nearly as comfortable!

This department didn’t pique my attention in years past, but their sale baby stuff is GOOD! I sent the catalogue to my experienced mama friends and below are their top picks (I received almost all of these from them as gifts!). I also collected commentary from them on why they love each product below, and will try to add that in soon. UPDATE: read about baby picks here!

My annual stock-up time on some must haves below:
– Stila eyeliner mini set ($20) – Full size liquid eyeliner which typically costs $22 alone + small bonus item!
– Arcona triad pads – ($45 for 2; $75 value) – See my review of these toner pads in this post! (item #7)
– La mer mini miracles – ($85) – One of the few times I’ll replenish this tiny and pricey La Mer for Nick. He loves how rich and creamy it is for keeping skin moisturized overnight. I can’t really agree on the “$156 value” (they just added a tiny eye cream), but a small bonus is better than no bonus!
– Oribe dry shampoo + texture spray set – I’ve been trying a ton of hair products this year, and although Oribe is painfully pricey, it’s been one of the best on my hair for both shampoo / conditioner and texture spray.
– Anastasia brow duo ($28 for a $43 value) in Medium Brown – I really like both of these but rarely buy the pencil, as you don’t get lot of product for the price. To save, I usually use their brow duo powder with a brush for everyday use, but nothing really beats the pencil for quick on-the-go makeup and touchups! The gel is great to tame longer or unruly brows, and I also use it sometimes on my pesky hair wispies. This is a great deal for two of their classic cult favorite products at a sizeable discount. See online reviews of the brow gel and brow wiz.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Giveaway

Thank you for a great post! I love the Ruched Body-Con Tank Dress. I actually bought it in black after you reviewed it previously
Jean,
I have been following your blog for years and I can’t thank you enough for all of the content that you’ve posted over the years. I started following you in college, when I was totally clueless on all of the petite options available to me. I was always so jealous of my taller friends who could go into any store and find something that fit right off the rack. Fastforward to today, where I get complimented on all of the outfits that I’ve purchased from your blog! From the bottom of my heart- thank you for helping me build my wardrobe professionally and personally. I am so excited to follow your journey into motherhood- you will be such an amazing mother.
I loved this Nordstrom post and jumped right away to buy a lot of the recommended options- I bought the Tory Burch pumps, Topshop Jeans, BP cami (sadly sold out), and the Barefoot Dreams cardigan.
Felt the Barefoot Dreams cardigan for the first time.. now thinking about treating myself! I’m also keeping a lookout for a trendy coat that can be dressed up and down, and a pair of black riding boots.
I’m looking for easy to put together items for the fall/winter, as our first baby will be here in September!!! Congrats on your baby!!
XO- Jennifer Fraser
I get most excited for the NSale just to see your reviews on new items! Sweaters and booties are always my “must-haves”, but I picked up a Blank NYC Suede Shift Dress that I can’t wait to pair during the fall. Thank you for hosting this giveaway!
-Laticia
I love the Barefoot Dreams cardigan and I’m so glad you mentioned the Nike that’s on sale. The Leith dress is also cute and very versatile.
Ordered the Caslon leather jacket with removable hood in XXS petite and I’m sooo excited to get it. I saw several different leather jackets that come in petite sizes!!! Love it!
Thanks so much for your helpful blog post! I always find these sale posts super helpful, and I love reading your reviews! I fell in love with the Barefoot Dreams Circle cardigan because of your post 🙂
Will be picking up the barefoot dreams cardigan this year 🙂 thanks jean
Definitely need some more Zella leggings!!
The blondo waterproof boots and longchamp bag 😀
Hi! I’m looking forward for a new pair of flats for work, currently eyeing the pairs you mentioned above!
– Sandy
I’m eyeing the Tory Burch and Cole Haan flats. The look great to wear to work and I can use the extra height since I’m only 5ft 🙂
So many stylish yet practical choices! I especially love the 1901 trench coat, Leith cardigan, and Cole Haan flats. Pointy toes that are comfy? Oh, yes.
I’m considering this Sole Society fluri faux leather backpack to help distribute weight from regular work handbags. Thanks for sharing your recommendations!
I love the blondo ankle boots!
Wow, Jean! Thank you so much for this generous giveaway and all these helpful reviews! You have sold me on the Barefoot Dreams cardigan – it looks so wonderful, cozy and versatile. It’s my top choice out of the NAS. This is on my wishlist for if I were to win this raffle (or the lottery, etc.) I also find myself liking a lower price Topshop cardigan, which I will probably get as soon as the sale goes public.
the tory burch flats <3 and the cozy cardigan 🙂 thanks for the links
I’m new to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale so I’m looking at all your recommendations!
Thanks for this detailed post!
Loving the cacoon card! I’m in search of a mustard yellow cardigan and have been for a long time! I don’t get to shop in person often so it is super helpful to have very similar sizing to someone who has great taste like you! Love your style and the blog, I’m so happy I stumbled upon it! Sending thanks from North Dakota!
The Leith dress looks great on you with and without the baby bump. Just ordered one. 🙂 Thanks for all the suggestions
I would love a pair of the Zella leggings!
Zella leggings for the win!!! And moonlight pajamas 🙂 best decision to try those! Winners get announced on birthday! Thanks, Jean!
I’m loving those d’orsay pumps, I already have 1.state pumps in black! -Annie
I love the Blondo boots and Cole Haan flats!! Ordered the flats and hope they fit. Thanks for the recommendations
I’m considering the T3 Grey & Rose Gold Cura Hair Dryer. A coworker has the white/rose gold version and it’s made a difference in how her hair looks when she uses it- no fly-aways, and silky smoothness, even in the summer humidity! It’s also a much better price on Nordies than Sephora/T3 when they both had it on sale for $150.
Looking to try the La Mer since the usual price point is so out of reach!
I’m looking at picking up the Nike Thea sneakers and the BLANKNYC suede jacket! I’ve always wanted one and I really like this year’s style.
This year I’m shopping for ankle boots so it’s extra helpful to see your picks. Thank you!
Eyeing all the cardigans! I’m overdue for some new ones.

Looking to stock up on Zella leggings and new sneakers! Can’t resist the Anniversary Sale!
Love the Blondo waterproof bootie! I am also eyeing the casual Caslon blazer that is versatile for weekend or in the office.
I am obsessed with the Cole Haan flats for work and the Barefoot Dreams cardigan for every day fall outfits. I hope to be pregnant this year with husband and I first baby and your posts continue to inspire me.. Thanks for sharing your style and story!

I am interested in affordable crossbody bags for the fall, particularly those that look proportional on 5’2” frame. Thanks for all the great contents, your blog has been super helpful in helping me pick out clothes for my petite frame.
The Nike Free Runs look cute! I’ve been looking for a pair of black ankle skinny jeans so hopefully I’ll find some in this sale.
Im going for something that I like, but dont need since. I have already stocked up on coats and boots, but I adore the BlankNYc suede jacket and the updated sperry duck boots.
I really love the Tory Burch flats and the Cole Hann flats. It’s always helpful to know how they fit so thank you for reviewing!
