Lace + Bow // Our Paris Apartment Rental (airbnb) Review

paris travel_airbnb french apartment rental vs hotel review

I wrote about our overall apartment rental experience in a recent post, and wanted to share a few more thoughts on our Paris rental along with some photos! As mentioned earlier, we’ve rented two Airbnb units in Paris over recent years (you can see just a snippet of the first one in this post) and both of the actual apartments turned out to be quite similar. Both units were in classic Haussmann-style buildings, with floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, big ornate mirrors over fireplaces, and wall /ceiling moulding details that felt quintessentially Parisian. They photographed beautifully, but I do want to note both units were also old, with little cracks here and there and creaky floors.

The apartment we stayed at this month did have a renovated bathroom with spacious shower (you need to bring or purchase your own toiletries), and a fairly new kitchen. It was family-friendly and could sleep up to 6, plus there was a playpen along with several strollers stored away in the closets. One benefit I forgot to mention in my initial post about apartment rentals is significant potential savings, especially if you’re traveling in a group that exceeds the capacity for a hotel room. The location of this one was also very convenient in the vibrant Le Marais neighborhood, steps from a subway, grocery stores, and restaurants galore (plus, it was on a very well-known street so no confusion by taxis or Uber drivers)! If anyone is interested, the listing is here, and here is a signup link (referral) with a $40 discount.

I love the juxtaposition of a delicate lace cami against flowy, fuller-coverage trousers or a pair of skinny jeans. I didn’t have a blazer with me, but a simple cropped one would have been the perfect way to top off this ensemble with either jeans or pants. Of course this is not a look suitable for work, but it’s an unexpectedly chic look for dinner out or date night!

It’s no secret that one of my favorite pant silhouettes is the high-waisted, wide-leg cut which can do visual wonders on even shorter legs. The pair I’m wearing here is in a lighter weight flowy material, with a slightly cropped length and a bow sash belt – my favorite feature! I’m wearing an xxs petite without any alterations.
