Today’s outfit combines several neutral favorites that you guys may remember from past posts! I love mixing textures, and this look is no exception with soft cashmere, suede mules, a little (faux) leather, and light, airy fabric from the scarf. I pulled these pieces together with a pair of vintage-wash black jeans (under $60!) with just the right amount of fading and a touch of distressing. This is my second pair of STS Blues from Nordstrom – fit is true to size for a relaxed skinny jean, and both the knee distressing placement and length work well for shorter legs! I cuffed them up a tiny bit for a more casual look, but when un-cuffed, the raw-edged hem ends right below my ankles.
These have a mid-rise with a small waist gap on me, and are very comfy with a good amount of stretch throughout. In my experience with STS Blue jeans, a machine wash (inside-out with dark colors) & dry will shrink them a touch down in size. Measurements of size 24: 13.5″ across waist, 15.5″ across hips, 8.5″ rise, 26.25″ inseam when un-cuffed.
If you want super fitted skinny jeans with no waist gap at all, Topshop Jamie jeans are still my go-to. For petite ladies, my favorite cut is specifically their Jamie ankle style in either regular or high waist, and I recommend going 1 or 2 sizes up from your usual in designer denim. I usually wear size 25 x 30 in this cut, which fits like a second skin and hits right above my ankles.
I’m so glad this cashmere sweater is back this year! My usual size in petites is slim but not fitted, and the longer length and split side hem works well untucked over leggings and booties. The lighter weight is thin enough to layer with, but still cozy. My sweater from last fall has pilled a bit, something I can’t seem to avoid with any of my favorite sweaters. I have an older electric sweater shaver (in need of an upgrade), so would love to hear about any other favorite gadgets that you guys would recommend for sweater care!
Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
Hi Jean! Love your blog and your style! I was wondering where you go in Boston to get your hair highlighted? I just moved here and want to find a good place!
Love the camel sweater!

A signature scarf is a great piece. Try wearing the same scarf all winter that’s style .

Hi Jean! I love your fall look! I love your casual outfit. I like to combine my outfits, sometimes im staring at my wardrobe and im wondering what to wear and how to combine my clothes so i look cool and most importantly normal… Your post gave ideas… Keep on!
This camel sweater is so pretty! I’m wishing it’s cold enough in LA to actually wear long sleeves, but unfortunately, it seems like we have one more heat wave left from the summer 🙁 Looking pretty as always love <3

I also bought the BP Slides (grey) from the Nordstrom sale but I’m having trouble incorporating them into my work outfits. Any ideas? I’d like to get a few wears in before it gets too cold! I’d hate for such a cute, trendy, and comfy shoe to go to waste due to my lack of fashion creativity.
This is incredibly cute! Love all of the details!

Hi Jean! I absolutely love your blog and definitely owe much of my sense of style to you; so thank you! As far as sweater care, I wanted to share a recent discovery of mine: Cashmends. My favorite cashmere sweater wore a hole in the elbow, and these little patches came to the rescue! They’re handmade from recycled cashmere and come in cute shapes (I got the moths) and more standard elbow patches. I highly recommend them! http://www.stellaneptune.com/products

My favorite sweater care item is the Lilly brush which is 9.99 at Bed, Bath and Beyond. This effectively removes the pills quickly. Thanks for all your wonderful posts and the details that you include about fit. It makes reading your blog so helpful and a pleasure.
I’m in love with this look! It’s cool, chic and perfect for every occasion!
I really like camel print to spice up an outfit! X
