Black + Olive // Handkerchief Hem Tunic

winter fashion tunic jbrand maria black jeans

BP tunic top xs (also in gray waffle), J.Brand jeans sz 24 hemmed, J.Crew coat (also here)
Ray-Ban sunglasses, Cole Haan boots (lower version), Anthro scarf c/o (also here)

Hello hello ~ ending the week here with this easy pairing of a long tunic over slim jeans. This soft top with handkerchief hem is a loose casual fit on me in xs, great for lounging comfortably in at home (or on long plane rides) over leggings. My Cole Haan Marina boots are all sold out, but I wanted to mention the below-the-knee “Barnard” version again, currently on sale for 40% off. I haven’t tried this on personally, but reading through the reviews it sounds very petite-friendly! The lower shaft & heel height makes them potentially work appropriate, unlike OTK boots. One shopper who gave a rave review mentioned she is 5 feet tall with narrow 12″ calves, and the boot in size 5.5 hit about 1 inch below the back of her knees.

Unrelated restock alert, the bow-back dress I posted about previously is now back up in a new pink color, available in all sizes! You can read my post here including the measurements of an XS, which I found to be pretty petite-friendly off the rack.

Nordstrom is also having a sunglasses sale, with markdowns or price-matching on several designer styles! In addition to my 51mm Clubmasters worn above and my 58mm aviators, here’s a few other options currently on sale:

– The Illesteve Leonard (15% off) which is popular for small faces; measuring 47-22-140
Gucci Sunglasses in black or brown (50% off). A reviewer mentioned these are lightweight and a good fit on her smaller nose bridge; 56-15-135
Prada sunglasses (15% off) in a classic cat eye style; 54-22-140
– Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses (40% off), a rounded cat eye; 58-14-140
– Valentino Rockstud sunglasses in brown tortoise or black (15% off); 53-19-140

If you’re unfamiliar with sunglasses measurements, the three dimensions represent “lens width – nose bridge width – temple length.” My biggest sunglasses fit issue is my flatter nose bridge, so personally prefer either styles with a narrower bridge width (usually 20mm or below), or, styles with adjustable nose pads like most Ray-Bans where I can manually bend the nose pads closer. I used to have several pairs of sunglasses that sat lower on my nose and rested on my cheeks – I thought this was normal until a friend told me that cheek resting was a clear sign of improper fit! Width wise, I don’t mind my lenses a little over-sized, so have shades ranging in lens widths of 51 to 58mm.

Those Lady Coats fit you like a glove! I am looking to buy one, but have absolutely no idea which size to order as I have never shoped from J.Crew before. I usually buy from Banana Republic petite, since they have stores in Canada.
Anyhow, pls help me figure out a decent sizing! You wear a 00P, but what is your height, weight, bust??
I pretty much need to get it right from the beginning, since returns from Canada with J.Crew are not as easy as from the U.S.

Hi there – thanks! Just responded above, it is an XS and its a swingy fit so I don't recommend sizing up. It is odd that the site got rid of the XS as an option when it sold out instead of just making it grayed!

Hello – it's an XS, I think the XS just sold out online and I'm not sure why they got rid of it altogether instead of just grayed it out. That's confusing!

Hi Cristina – they're old pearl earrings of mine. I love the bigger pearl look! Not sure how big the AT ones are, but mine are about 12mm across which is pretty large and I love the size.

I have a very, very flat nose bridge, so these links really help! I thought that it was normal to have your classes slowly inch down your nose and rest on your cheeks, but I guess that's just me not being able to find the right size like you!

I was wondering too about the tunic being XS or S even though you mentioned the former? It appears there was never XS option for that top? It looks great on you. I'd love to see more of your casual/weekend outfit ideas. Thank you!!

Are those the Ann Taylor pearl studs from this season? I saw them in-store, but was afraid they were too big on a petite person like myself. They look great on you, though, and am wondering if I should give them a chance.
