Little red (bow back) riding hood // J.Crew Factory puffer review

bow back red flare party dress

I wanted to share a few more photos of this bow-back dress, which has just been re-stocked in all sizes (Update: for some reason page just became “not available” – maybe it’ll be back up in a bit!). It’s on backorder until after the holidays, but makes a darling cocktail dress for year-round. I’m wearing an XS regular…it looked very high-waisted on the model so I had hope, and sure enough it’s petite-friendly! Measurements are: 12.25″ across the waist, 13.5″ from top to waistline, and 32.5″ total length. It does come pretty wrinkled, but you can iron it at home on medium heat inside-out. The dress is fully lined, with a double lining at the skirt plus hidden tulle layer to help hold the fit & flare shape.

I also snapped a few photos of this Factory puffer coat below before sending it back (as you guys know, I got the faux fur hooded version reviewed here instead). For those who don’t care for the furry hood, I thought this is a steal for a puffer coat that fits a petite frame. There’s just a few remaining in petite sizing so don’t miss out if you wanted this!

Unlike the J.Crew regular wintress coat which I thought ran small with short sleeves, I found this to fit true to size with room for layering. The sleeve length was also amply long enough for the “thumb holes” to comfortably reach and hook over my thumbs. The hood is removable, and the pockets are lined in cozy fleece with snap button closures.

And one last picture of this red dress from another angle (ps – my pearlized statement necklace is 50% off today. They make great little gifts for friends!) ~

    Hi Jean,
Do you think the J.Crew puffer would be OK for a north east winter? I live in NYC, and am looking for a warmer (but still flattering) coat on our windy 20 degree days.

    Thanks!

I just purchased the whole puffer jacket outfit for myself for Christmas:) it's chic, practical for the PNW, trending yet comfy for an active mom of four and transitions well into any wardrobe. So glad I found this blog!

I hope you love it! It's costume jewelry so you do get what you pay for, but it's a fun piece that jazzes up simple outfits.

Hi Kristen! It's from Talbots but the smaller sizes are sold out. J.Crew has a very similar one called the cambridge cable turtleneck. I'd suggest sizing up on that one since I thought it ran narrow.

I own this exact puffer coat in the exact same size and I really, really love it. It makes a winter coat look classy yet is still warm and the fleece lined pockets are awesome. And I bought it on cyber Monday so got it for $85 and free shipping. Great buy!

This is SO adorable! I bought this J Crew Factory puffer jacket at the outlet store a month ago in XSP and it has become a pretty comfortable staple in the (not-so) cold weather we've had so far. Here's hoping that it'll still keep me warm once the temps drop further!

Would you mind sharing where the cable knit turtleneck sweater (under the puffer coat) is from? I love it! (Thanks in advance!) 🙂

The bow dress is gorgeous! It reminds me of a similar dress from Kate Spade. The low cut in the back combine with the huge bow creates a cute but sexy look….however you want it to look!
