These days, jeans are about the extent of putting on real pants for me, so I love comfortable yet polished tops that can help dress up my denim. I’m partnering with Express to share two finds I love for either holidays at home, date nights in your kitchen, or zoom meetings where you can also easily and discreetly swap in your favorite PJ bottoms!
Ruched long sleeve knit top (60% off) – A chic, flirty and flattering top in a whole host of neutral colors. The shoulder detailing is eye catching but not too dramatic for everyday wear. This is listed as a sweater but note it’s a lightweight one (not too thin, however) and the ribbed material is stretchy and soft against the skin. I tried on both xxs and xs and both worked, so it just depends on how fitted you’d like this. Note that the sleeves are long on someone petite with short arms, so you could either wear them scrunched a bit or folded under like I did here.
Velvet mock neck top (50% off; pictured below) – Absolutely love this subtly draped top with a velvety texture. I showed it here with jeans, but it’s even more lovely paired with a skirt (either classic black, colorful, or something sparkly!). It adds some understated elegance, but is comfortable all around due to the stretchy velvet fabric and elastic banded bottom. The elastic part naturally tucks in underneath so isn’t visible, and it makes the torso length of this top easily adjustable for a shorter fit on petite ladies.
High waisted comfort knit jeans – These have a flattering high rise and petite friendly fit, with a shorter than usual inseam that actually hits above my ankles and is slim and tapered at the ankle (so attention extra petite ladies who usually need to cut or hem your denim!). The denim is medium in weight with a washed black / dark grey color. I tried on this particular style in both their Petite and Short, and the fit and measurements were actually identical. Size 0 in either Petite or Short have a 24.75″ inseam and 10″ rise.
Bronze pleated midi skirt – wanted to point out this skirt that I got a year ago, back in stock! See it on me. I checked out this year’s version in person and it’s exactly the same. This one pairs easily with any black blouse in your closet or either of the above tops. I have always loved the metallic in this skirt as a changeup from a solid neutral, yet it’s still subtle and easy to style as it’s a deeper color versus shiny.
Which of these tops is more your style?

Thank you to Express for partnering on this post.
What color is the sleeveless velvet shirt that you’re wearing?
Hi Gia, I’m wearing the velvet top in the moonlight color!
You look radiant in these outfits! That Grey top looks sooo comfy. May I also ask, what are you wearing on your lips? 😍
Thank you so much for your kind words! My lip color is an old favorite – KVD Lolita and I like to make it more subtle/less saturated by applying it lightly over a layer of lip balm.
What are you wearing on your cheeks??? Love the color!!!
Thank you Kathryn! It’s Kevyn Aucoin celestial bronzer
You make anything look fabulous. Are you wearing the silver or charcoal color in the long sleeve top?
Hi Cindy, you are too kind! My top is the silver heather gray color.
Love anything velvet so that is my favorite! Happy Holidays!!
Thank you Carol, happy holidays to you as well!!
Beautiful!
Thank you Wendy, happy holidays!!
