Casual Combat Boots & Camel Cap 2 Ways

If you told me a year ago that combat boots would become the top hit on this blog, I’m not sure I would’ve believed it but here we are! And since hair styling has been low on my priority list lately, this adjustable baseball cap that Nick picked up for me has been in regular rotation. It’s great quality and they make it for a whole bunch of city teams in this versatile tan color, plus a black on black option that’s very subtle and easy to pair. I like the 47 Clean Up fit best for my head, and Nick has the 47 Captain fit (but with the San Diego Padres, of course!).

I wanted to show a few more simple ways I’ve been restyling both these boots and cap for everyday wear – here it is paired with a long trench (outfit details linked), and below are the same pieces but with a shorter style jacket! Basically the same outfit formula, just in a cream versus black color scheme. Which one do you prefer?

For those who celebrate, I wanted to wish you each a healthy and peaceful Christmas. My heart is with those spending it without your usual loved ones – and from messages, I know many of you have gone over a year without seeing family and miss them dearly. We typically travel and visit my grandparents in CA, but like many, will be celebrating at home this year. It’ll still be one for the memory books as it’s Rio’s first Christmas and the first year that Nori actually (sort of) understands from reading all her Christmas stories. Santa is bringing a few bananas (her favorite) and a new Lego / Duplos set (her other favorite), which I’m hoping will buy us all some quiet time in the new year!

Hi Lacey! You might be thinking of an Instagram story highlight? I think it’s saved under my stories under the How to circle!

I like these looks! Do you have tip/tricks for keeping your ball caps clean? I’ve resisted them because I don’t know how to wash them.

Hi Thea, I usually just spot clean especially along the inner brim using a damp towel, but most baseball caps can also be soaked in a sink using warm water and soap for a hand wash!

Hello! Love these combat boots. Curious if you’ve tried any of combat boots from
The brand “Thursday Boot Co” that i keep seeing pop up on Instagram ads. I was thinking of trying those until I saw these Sam Edelman ones and now I’m indecisive! Ha

Hi Amy! I haven’t tried any boots from that company, I actually just heard of them last week and haven’t had a chance to look into them yet so can’t speak to that brand but I have really been loving my Sam Edelmans!

Love the look! Did you spray the combat boots with protectant spray beforehand? Trying to decide whether to spray mine or not.

Hi Kathryn – I haven’t sprayed mine yet as they seem pretty easy to wipe clean and given that they’re black they should be hardy, but it never hurts to use a spray like Cadillac or Apple Care brand!

Hi Jean! Happy Holidays to you and your beautiful family!
I am definitely doing more baseball hats these days. Would you have any petite-friendly suggestions for hats without team logos? Thanks so much!

Hi Mari, happy holidays to you as well! 47 brand actually has a couple of plain black hats if you look on their site. Lululemon is pricier but also has one that I like and is quite comfortable – you can see it styled on me in this post and this post.

It’s the “off-duty model” outfits! You look great in both color schemes.
