One request I’ve gotten a lot lately is to see more of one item styled multiple ways, so I’ve been trying to do more of that! Today’s post highlights a versatile little striped top mixed with my older wardrobe staples. The ponte material gives the ruffled sleeves structure, and makes the difference between a more style-forward top vs a simple tee! The bottom half is a slight peplum, and creates a shapely silhouette when worn untucked. This is a top that you may love enough to get in multiple colors since each one has a different feel – stripes is playful and nautical, the blush (my favorite of the 3, if I had to choose) is soft and feminine, and the black is sharp. See below for a few easy ways to style this top!
Since Ann Taylor is running a promo, here’s a few other tops worth mentioning available in petites and bonus: are machine washable! 1) This sleeveless button-up is a classic work staple and the faint vintage blush color is perfect. 2) If you love scarf print, this sleeveless print shell is a standout piece for sprucing up plain bottoms, and here’s a long sleeve option in a similar print! Each of these tops fit true to size in my opinion.
1. Tucked into a thicker or A-line skirt
Now because the bottom of this top flares out, it will be too bulky tucked into a fitted pencil skirt. It worked well with my looser, paper-bag style lined skirt and also looks great tucked into a black, white, or colorful flared A-line skirt!
2. with white bottoms + denim jacket
Heads up, my longtime favorite J.Brand jeans in “demented” are temporarily marked down! The cropped length is perfect on petite ladies, and the distressing looks more subtle in person than it does online. These are a lower rise than I would ideally like these days (bought them years ago), but being petite they fit closer to mid rise on me and not terrifyingly low like tween denim brands!
3. with ankle pants + statement necklace
Which of the 3 ways do you like best?
I actually love the first option the best! The silhouette itself is fairly classic, but the details are super cute and feel fresh!
Silly question, but how on earth does your skirt’s bow look so perfect? I am never able to get that even, crisp look.
Love the paperbag waist on your chambray skirt.
I also love that you haven’t sacrificed style now that you’re a mama. You’re an inspiration to all of us that want to be put together!
love your blog!
where did you get your denim jacket? i would love to see a post on good petite options for denim jackets. i am similarly sized as you and feel they are always too boxy and large in the chest, and when you size down enough, the arms are too short.
I like all three styles but my favorite is number 1! This striped top is beautiful and love the ruffle sleeves. It is a bit too feminine for my own liking because of the peplum bottom. It works great though tucked in!

I really love #1, and your hair is #goals.
I love all the outfits choices! You can actually have another look for #3 – add the white blazer over the top and black pants, and you got your outfit #4 🙂
Ooo I like your last styling best. It’s a really flattering silhouette on you and I think would work great for us more petite girls!

I really like how you styled it with the skirt, the look with the black trousers is probably my least favourite, both top and trousers flare out but the one with the white jeans is definitely a winner for a more casual look.
I looove a good striped tee, definitely one of the staples in my wardrobe! I think my favorite style is the second look with the white jeans – rather casual yet super stylish!
Thanks for sharing, I very much enjoy pieces that show how to wear a certain item of clothing different ways.

Wow, I love the versatility of the striped top, which you have showcased nicely for us in this post!
As for picking one out of your three, I’d choose the last one even if it is a black & white outfit. For me to wear it out for work, I’d replace black with dark navy and top it off with a 3/4 sleeve cardi to keep warm indoors from the A/C.
I am interested in your practically-all-white outfit. I recently added to my wardrobe my first white jeans (finally a pair that I’m happy with ^_^), so I will definitely wear out this outfit on a casual summer outing!
Great post – I enjoyed the multi-styling and would love to see more it too!
Amanda, I’m curious what qualities your white jeans have that make it work for you. I have a pair of white jeans, and they just don’t look good on me. I see people walking around looking so fabulous in white jeans/pants yet I can’t put my finger on exactly what isn’t working for me. Is it the brightness of pure white? Is it the skinny fit versus tailored pants? Is it the full length versus cropped? Gah, I will never solve this puzzle.
Hi, sorry I saw your comment late, but I’ve been busy shopping 😇
For me, the challenge of shopping for white jeans isn’t much different from shopping for any pair of jeans where the fit, comfort, and appearance of them when worn always matters. Yet there is one additional factor to consider when picking out white jeans: how see-through is the material in the rear with non-thong panties on. Last summer, I decided to search with a massive shopping spree albeit time-consuming without luck, so I’m happy to have found one this time by chance from just trying in store.
As with shopping for most items, just keep looking as long as time permits. My next goal is to find non-see-through white pants – I’m still looking….
This striped top is adorable <3 🙂 I love the silhouette so much! And I love the skirt that you paired it with! Such a cute outfit!
