Winter Must Have // Fleece lined tights

petite wool coat outerwear winter work clothes

I hope some of you were able to pick up this beautiful coat from my pre-Black Friday post! As predicted Petite sizes went in the blink of an eye, but you can bookmark the item page to check for pop backs. I’ve also been raving about fleece lined tights in my recent posts and wanted to give them a little more love! These are a staple if you like to wear skirts or dresses in the winter – they are smooth like normal tights on the outside but are entirely lined in fleece for warmth.

The Express tights I have on are so thick they’re basically like plush footed leggings instead of “tights.” S/M is a little long on my 5′ tall frame, so I have the excess fabric pulled up and hidden around my thighs. I’ve shared a few other fleece lined options below that come in more defined S, M, L sizes, which may fit petite ladies better!

Footed:
Amazon high waisted fleece tights ($12.99 with Prime free 2-day shipping & returns). I just got these and they are nice and matte, and are a little more petite-friendly than the Express ones.
LOFT fleece tights

Maternity:
– Motherhood Maternity fleece tights ($12.99 with Prime free 2-day shipping & returns)
Loft Maternity fleece tights ($19.50)
Sidenote, if you are pregnant or a nursing mama, you NEED this affordable pajama / lounge set (would also make an awesome gift)! Hands down the softest and comfiest set I own, so much that I needed both colors. I reached out to the brand and they gave me some coupon codes for you guys that are 1 time use per person for 20% off either Amazon or their website – try EXTRAKB20 or LOVEKB20). More info on my Maternity and Nursing favorites list – click the notepad icon at the top of each product box to see my fit notes.

Footless:
Nordstrom footless fleece tights ($15 with free shipping & returns)
Nordstrom Rack footless fleece tights ($10; reviews say runs small)

Stirrups:
Shopbop Plush fleece tights

winter office style professional clothing
For commuting in damp weather, I’d recommend pairing your fleece tights with rubber ankle booties like my Sam Edelman ones (also sold at Nordstrom or Sam Edelman down to sz 4), then swap in heels or nicer flats once indoors for professional wear. If you don’t have a camel skirt, I also tried this same outfit with a grey wool pencil skirt (also available at J.Crew Factory) and loved the look as well!

Hi Kirskey – just bookmark the online item page for the coat (the one I linked at the top of my post). I suggest checking in the morning when they restock any returns from the day before. Hope you’re able to get the size you need!

Great post! Do you know of any tall, pull up, thigh high fleece lined tights (for those of us who don’t like the control top in regular tights)?

Hi Elle sorry I’m actually not familiar with what you’re describing … do you mean tall socks then instead of tights?

This outfit looks really nice. Do you think that the outfit would also be nice with the wool skirt in the black colour as well? Or would it be too harsh?

Yes absolutely! That’s the beauty of leopard print – it works with almost all neutrals and also some bright solid colors too

Where can you use the codes: PETITEKB20, EXTRAKB20, PETITE20? I tried Amazon but they didn’t work.

Hi Milenah – sorry for the late reply, I had updated my post above since some of the codes seemed to have stopped working on Amazon temporarily.

Does the coach have padded shoulder? I often feel like it looks heavy on petite frame so I stay away from it? Do you have any recommendation?
I got this one but wasn’t truly satisfied with the shoulder https://www.zara.com/us/en/inverted-lapel-frock-coat-p07988876.html
Another one, (no padded shoulder) I’ve tried on and like it but think it looks too stiff: https://www.zara.com/us/en/zippered-frock-coat-p07823877.html

Hi Jean! I have very skinny calves and ankles (probably the same circumference calves but not as well proportioned with the calf/ankle ratio as yours) and my tights always seem to pool around my ankles. Did you find this to be an issue? Also, have you considered doing a review/style of footless tights? I see them paired with skirts and pumps and am not sure what the do’s and don’ts are for that style (e.g., would flats work or be too shortening?). Would love your thoughts or a post on that!

Hi there! Hmm I don’t have that problem but that does sound like a pain! I personally don’t wear footless tights since it’s a little more fashion forward to style with skirts than footed tights, but a quick search on Pinterest shows several styling ideas!

Hi Jean, is the code for the pajamas usable on amazon or can you only use it on the Kindred Bravely website. Thanks!

Hi! I was told it’s for both. Just updated the codes above in the post since they said some were not working on Amazon. Sorry about that!

Such beautiful colours Jean. You look stylish as always. Never heard about fleece lined tights, but it sounds like something I can well use when cycling to school in the colder season! Thanks for the inspiration. Love, Lieske

I love how opaque those tights are. And I still love that coat. The fit is perfection. My favorite photo here is the last one, the hat is so much fun. Patricia Field said she tried to add hats to the SATC outfits when she thought it was appropriate but sometimes (or perhaps often, not sure) she would be overruled and the hats would be taken away from the outfit.

Hi jean! Love your posts! How do fleece lined tights compare to heattech leggings? Thanks!

Hi Annie, I haven’t tried heattech leggings myself so I can’t make a direct comparison. My husband has the mens uniqlo ones though and they seem warm but just don’t have the fleecy inner texture from the lining.
