(Jump) Suiting Up for the Holidays

Missguided top sz 0p (straps shortened) + pants sz 0p (50% off everything w/ code yesyesyes), Kate Spade wallet, Manolo Blahnik pumps sz 5

I’m continuing my holiday styling series with a completely different type of look today, featuring this fiery pants set. Fashion for me is about finding trusty, reliable looks that fit and flatter, but also about experimenting outside my comfort zone once in a while. This look combines two features that I already know and love (wide leg + peplum) but in a statement-making color and format.

I actually purchased this set last season and have been waiting for the holidays (possibly NYE!) to pull it out. I am a total dresses and skirts girl, but do love the idea of pants or jumpsuits as a fashion-forward alternative for cocktail or black tie attire. Nick aka my personal Tim Gunn did a double take before surprising me with a thumbs up!

I’m partnering with Missguided again to share their party wear collection for this season’s festivities. I was amused to see Baddie Winkle as the face of their campaign – this great-grandmother is still going strong and spunky at the age of 88. As mentioned in a previous post, Missguided is a UK-based fast fashion brand with affordable pieces that I think are priced accordingly to quality. Their items are on the more fashion-forward side, and I appreciate that they do make petites sizing. A 0P usually requires minimal or no alterations on me, and their regular dresses tend to run on the snug side (I usually size up to a 2). Shipping is free and tracked from the U.K. for orders over $50, and return shipping is at the cost of the customer to a US-based address.

I think I prefer this look with a sleek ponytail – what do you think?

I’m wearing both pieces here in size 0 petite, with the only adjustment being a DIY shortening of the shoulder straps. The pants measure 12.5″ across the waist, and this is the length on me with 4″ heels for reference. Both pieces are on the thinner side and unlined, with side zipper entry. Here’s a few other party-ready pieces available in petite sizing:

Crushed velvet black dress – I tried on this stretchy velvet dress in a 0 regular and the straps were long on me, but the dress was very fitted otherwise. Petite sizing should be perfect proportion-wise, but I’d recommend sizing up unless you want it to be very curve hugging. Pair with this super soft oversized faux fur stole, which also comes in burgundy.

V dip bardot mini dress – another fitted, stretchy little black number in a bombshell silhouette. Also comes in gray. I haven’t tried this on myself, but based on how their other dresses fit me, I would also suggest sizing up.

– Not in the party category, but I have this white boyfriend tee (also in burgundy) and like the slouchy, casual fit and little sleeve cuff details. As mentioned before, the white is more opaque than most other white T’s I’ve tried. Thank you to Missguided for partnering on this post!

@extrapetite I actually purchased this top and bottom combination after reading this post and seeing how beautiful it looks on you. I am planning to wear it to a few holiday events over the next few weeks and was wondering if you have ny suggestions for a shawl or sweater than can be worn on top in case the temperatures are on the colder side? Thanks for your help!
