emerald green holiday party outfit modcloth extra petite

Modcloth flare skirt xxs, Modcloth lace top xs (sleeves folded under) c/o, Gucci soho bag in rose beige, Ann Taylor heels

I love a good party dress for the holidays, but I also like the idea of creating a faux dress look out of versatile separates! This darling fit & flare skirt from Modcloth comes in three rich hues for fall / winter, and I’m tempted to pick up a second color. It fits perfectly on my upper waist with no alterations needed (hallelujah!), has pockets, a side zipper, plus a little bit of stretch along the back waistband for comfort. I brought it on my last trip and wore it so much, paired with tops ranging from dressier blouses to cozy sweaters. This skirt also looks adorable with opaque tights and booties, a look that you’ll likely be seeing from me in coming weeks!

This lace top (now on sale!) is made of a stretchy material, and is lined in the bodice from chest downwards, both in the front and back. The fit is pretty narrow on me in the torso, but I found the sleeves to be a little looser and long since it’s in regular sizing. I have them folded up a few inches here and secured with tiny safety pins. This skirt is actually made of a sturdy corduroy which I don’t typically go for, but the corduroy ribbing is so fine it almost feels like velvet (which I absolutely love for the holidays!). The xxs measures 11.5″ across the waist, with a tiny bit of stretch.

We shot this at Castello di Amorosa, a winery within a castle that was built to replicate (rather impressively) those from 13th century Italy, from the architectural details down to the livestock grazing on surrounding grounds. It’s a beautiful escape from the modern day, especially when the tour is finished with a generous vino tasting.
