Sézane Fall try ons

Outfit c/o: Harper dress xs, earrings, Matilda Ballerina flats 5 (review below) worn w/ heel lifts

Happy almost Thanksgiving week! I’ve been behind on the blog lately but have been posting daily videos and fit reviews to my LTK account, where you can use the search box for anything you’re looking for (i.e. holiday, jeans, coat). There are also folders / collections at the top for different brands if you want to see all of my reviews from a particular store!

I worked on an IG project with Sezane this month and wanted to share a few new try-ons from their Fall collection. I’ve never seen them offer a discount for cyber week, but on occasion there’ll be surprise gift with purchases – just saw that they’ve been offering a GWP at checkout each day for cyber week! They also have complimentary gift packaging with a pretty blue bag and velvet ribbon.

Amongst their newest arrivals, the Nele blouse in stunning black embroidery is at the top of my wishlist. The ecru cotton version is amongst my all-time Sezane favorites (see it on me; note a wider-cut fit) and I’m lusting after this new elegant, moodier version!

1. Harper sweater Dress

I’ve been eying the Harper sweater dress for a while and assumed it’d be much too long. However I saw it on someone petite at an event recently and thought she pulled off the look fabulously! I couldn’t get it out of my head and was inspired to give it a try. It’s certainly long, but a striking piece that’s sexy yet elegant, and well-made in a medium (not thin) weight knit.

Fit: XS measures 58″ long so will definitely be a midi-maxi length on petites. The overall proportions of an XS were pretty good with surprisingly petite-friendly sleeves (21.75″ long on XS).

Fabric: The material is a smooth and stretchy merino wool / organic cotton blend with no itchiness for me, and the buttons are all functional so you can adjust the leg slit to show off more or less. It’s not clingy but is fitted, so I have on my trusty Uniqlo shaper shorts underneath.

2. BIANCA BLOUSE (also in black)

Bumping these older pics up for two reasons: 1. I reach for this blouse year-round but it’s especially versatile for holiday events (love it with trousers, a midi skirt, or a monochromatic outfit!); and 2. my beloved Madewell jeans below are on major sale for the lowest price I’ve seen yet!

They must be discontinuing these jeans in “Altoona” blue & “Vintage Canvas” wash (both great ones!) since they’re marked down plus extra 40% off. These have both been EP bestsellers all year and are a chic, flattering cut that I wear with both flats and heels. The 24 petite fits me TTS well with a mid-high rise, but if you’d like a higher rise, I’d buy regular sizing for the rise then cutting the hems (easy-peasy, since they’re a raw cut style anyways).

3. Clyde Trench Coat

This is another piece on my mind all Fall, after seeing it make so many appearances on the chic Parisians of social media! When Clyde first came out a year or two ago I found it to be shapeless and unappealing. I MUCH preferred the look of Sezane’s belted Scott trench coat, but over time this cut and cute patterned peek-a-boo lining slowly but surely grew on me.

I ordered the size 0 to try on, and as expected, found Clyde to be generously cut and looks better worn open than buttoned up. The sleeve length works for me since it’s intended to be worn cuffed, but I’d probably want to get the body length hemmed. The material is listed as water-repellant and feels just like the Scott trench fabric, which I’ve been wearing regularly out in damp weather without issues.

Since I already have the Scott trench in this same color, I’m going to send this back and wait for a restock on their Light Beige and see if my feelings on this style shifts. What do you guys think? Cute or too shapeless for petites?

These J.Crew jeans above are also on sale, and a great alternative to the Madewell wide crop if you’d like finished / not raw cut hems, more color options, and a slightly slimmer leg. They’re still wide cut, but about an inch less wide in the legs than the Madewell style further above.

In comparison, the Scott trench in size 0 feels tailored and slim You can read my Scott try-on here.

4. Paulie Dress

I also ordered this one to try since it looked like a cute chunky knit mini on the model. It’s a looser shift style cut in a medium-thicker weight knit that’s pretty warm. The knit has a slight itch factor to it but not nearly as much as with Sezane’s alpaca or kid mohair blends. I have the sleeves cuffed up below, and the length measures 31″ long on XS.

Taking a moment to talk about these boots – they’re marketed as slim calf boots, and WOW are they slim. I could just barely zip them up, but they look so nice and sleek once zipped and pretty nice quality with a block heel. They’re TTS in the foot, made of genuine leather and lined with a soft warm lining.

This style is listed as 13 to 14″ wide in the calf, but remember that boot measurements are taken on an average foot size thus will be smaller or bigger depending on your shoe size. My calves measure 12.5″ around at the widest point, and I don’t think these boots in size 5.5 would fit calves any wider.

Trying on: Sézane Paulie dress xs, Solemani slim calf boots 5.5 (very slim)

5. Matilda ballerina flats

Here’s my review on these shoes from a recent post: I’ve been wearing these Sezane Matilda suede flats non-stop – the deeper V front cut is so vintage-inspired chic! They’re well cushioned, and I love that they have a small 2cm stacked block heel which I prefer to totally flat shoes.

After wearing for a while these flats run a little big in my opinion, since I’m usually between 5 to 5.5 in other brands and the Matilda 5 is a touch loose on me. I also needed to make a small adjustment since the top of the sides hit the bottom of my ankles. This is an issue I run into a LOT with shoes and sneakers due to my lower ankles, but is an easy fix thanks to the multiple pairs of Amazon heel lifts I keep on hand.

I was gifted black earlier since leopard was sold out, and they’ve proven to be a great “better than basic” flat that makes simple outfits a tad more interesting. You can see them in my recent outfit videos:

Hi Jean- happy holidays! Unrelated to this post but have you tried down jackets from the brand, saved the duck? I bought the jacket for my trip to New England recently and found it to be super warm for New England weather. I actually prefer it more than my CG Loretta jacket and it’s a fraction of the price. Btw, absolutely love your new hair cut and color!

Thanks for the try-ons and fit videos! Those are always so helpful. But my main question is, will your knee-high boots from Edited Pieces ever come back in stock?
