Happy long weekend, friends! The sales are legit this weekend and the fall arrivals have me excited for some cooler weather. To help narrow things down, here are 5 sales I suggest checking out:
1. Oak and fort
The sale: 20% off site-wide including their famous trench! They gave me code JEANTRENCH which works only on this coat.
Putting this at the top of the list because I know many of you have been considering this trench, and it is almost never marked down. I bought it several seasons ago at full price and have zero regrets. If want a relaxed look vs tailored, the design and drape fabric on this are excellent. The material has substantial weight to it and drapes beautifully, is fairly wrinkle resistant, and easy care (I’ve machine washed and air dried it with no issues).
But as a heads up, it’s very oversized in fit. I tried it on multiple times before purchasing, and my initial thoughts were: it’s way too big! But each time I tried it on, it kept growing on me. I usually wear it open with the belt tied in the back to give it some shape, and the wrist bands also cinched. I own the Beige color and recently tried on Brindle.
2. Everlane
The sale: 20 to 25% off almost everything! A rare sitewide sale, plus some low clearance prices.
- High rise underwear – in my top 2 fave undie styles. Smoothing + light compression.
- Silky relaxed cotton shirt – lightweight, 100% cotton that’s breathable and non-bulky to layer
- Alpaca sweater – $35 for this sweater with many sizes still stocked! Note this material does have a little itch factor to it, so I usually wear it layered over a tee.
- Supima cotton dress – easy everyday midi dress with pockets
- Box cut cotton tee – excellent cotton basic with a slightly wide (but not too boxy) fit and good length for petites. I size up to XS and have black, white, and gray.
3. J. Crew
The sale: up to 40% off regular priced items, and extra 60% off sale items with WEEKEND.
J.Crew has my heart and wallet this Fall! I checked out some pieces in store, and the knit textures and polished preppy styles are so good. Nori was with me and picked out some darling pieces as well (that I’ll be ordering online, since the in-store promo wasn’t as good).
- Patch-pocket sweater lady jacket – my top pick for petites this season! Red is bold yet classic, black is timeless. This has the most similar fit to the original Emilie lady jacket that many of us loved. I tried it in store and it’s definitely shorter in length, which is nice for petites but might be cropped on someone taller. I can do XXS for a fitted look or XS for a more relaxed one.
- Sydney 4 season pants – one of the lowest prices I’ve seen for this style. Great work pant in a quality year-round fabric. Petites is running low!
- Denim trousers – some washes up to 40% off! The darkest one looks so good on the customer review photo. So elongating and love the pockets. Fit notes: I sized down to 23 petite, and these fit long and require high heels for me.
- Contrast trim cardigan – texture is gorgeous on this one. Longer hip length style on me.
- Cardigan blazer – see below. An oldie but goodie EP reader favorite that doesn’t go out of style!
A few things also caught my eye at their outlet store, J.Crew Factory! Everything is on sale, plus take extra 20% off orders $150+ with code LABORDAY.
- The budget friendly version of J.Crew’s popular slim-wide jeans
- Burgundy and silver flats are on my personal wishlist! Sad my size is sold out here.
- Low ankle strap block heels look very wearable and comfy with a little height
- Lady jackets in petite sizing, in herringbone and an interesting sherpa fleece
- Petite PJ sets in 100% cotton. Reviews mention sizing up
4. Banana Republic Factory
The sale: everything is marked down + extra 25% off at checkout.
See a few picks, including petite blazers, trench coats and other work pieces at very good prices. This is one of the websites I regularly check for the modern tailored aesthetic of Banana Republic, but with a lower price tag. I love the styles of Banana Republic after their design overhaul a few years ago, but the prices are now a bit steep!
In disclosure I have not tried these “picks” on, but I have several purchases from BRF in recent years that have been a great value for the classic styles and petite-friendly fit.
5. Levi’s
The sale: 30% off sitewide. They’ll usually have promos where you need to meet a minimum spend, so this is nice if you wanted to get just 1 item!
See my detailed Levi’s guide for petites post on the styles and color washes I’d recommend. The only update I’d like to make is for looser jean lovers, I tried on their baggy dad style and have to admit it’s really growing on me. The 28 shorter length is actually great for petties with flats – see my try on / quick review.
I much prefer shopping directly from Levi’s website versus third party retailers, bc they have the most extensive sizing, inseam, and color options on their own website. 3rd party retailers often don’t offer the shorter Levi’s inseam that I need!
6. Abercrombie
The sale: A&F has fairly regular sales, but I’m still including this one just because they re-activated my code AFJEAN this weekend for an additional 15% off their sitewide promo! A few callouts:
- NFL womens sweatshirt – 20% off NFL merch this weekend! The womens has an oversized relaxed fit. We were walking by an AF store in CA when Nick stopped dead in his tracks and went inside to get the (now extinct) San Diego Chargers sweatshirt!
- Short sleeve sweater – been loving this classy little knit for in between seasons
- Mara tweed vest dress – see on me the xxs petite fit of the spring version. I just love this for a “one and done” outfit that doesn’t require styling or thinking. The new tweed is right up my alley! I’d wear it with a mary jane or ballet flat or loafer, and sheer tights when the weather cools. I’ve also layered a turtleneck under mine. FYI, the petite length runs short and is definitely a mini, so petites could try regular for a little more length.
Hi Jean, thank you for sharing, i have been follow you more than 10 years.
for the trench, what color you chose? OAK + FORT TRENCH. thank you!
Hi Lu, wow thank you for your support for over a decade! I have the trench coat in their “Beige” color. Brindle is a little darker and more taupe.
