I’m playing catchup after our trip and can’t wait to share more, but wanted to mention Levi’s is having a sale now through 4/22! If you sign up for a free online account you get free shipping and return shipping. Since each wash can differ in fabric feel and fit, I wanted to update my previous reviews with in-stock colors I’d recommend. You can also see a video of the different fits on me.
For guys, despite mixed reviews these 541 Men’s taper fit jeans in “let’s go home” are a hit and the only jeans that Nick wants to wear lately. The wash is a versatile medium blue and the fit is TTS. He tried some other washes that fit differently, so we only recommend this particular color! He typically doesn’t wear “athletic fit” but the regular cuts were too slim, almost skinny.
1. Wedgie Straight Jeans
These are still my top pick for Levi’s that are the easiest to style and flattering on petites. They have a high rise, slim straight leg, low stretch denim, button fly and the most flattering “lift” at the rear. The 26″ inseam works on me with flats and looks nice with a low heel or booties, too.
These are so good I have them in 3 washes! If I had to pick my most worn, it would be “Space to think” (pictured at the top of this post) which is a grainer medium blue. They have a touch more stretch than my other Levi’s, comfy for a full day of wear and the knees don’t bag out much. These were just fully restocked!
My second most worn wash would be “Fully Baked” which is your classic light blue for spring heading into summer. These are an even lighter blue with no excessive bleaching or whiskering. Since my figure fluctuates over the years, I own these both in 24 and 25 for a looser fit.
My most recent addition are this pair in “In the Clouds,” which are a classic slightly off white. The above blue washes are 99% with a touch of lycra, while the white are 100% cotton.
2. Denim Jackets
I also wanted to share two of their jackets that I tried on recently. I’m personally very into the 90’s relaxed oversized look, but from IG polls it seems most of you still prefer the classic cut! Both of these are made in a cotton-tencel blend and I was impressed at how the denim felt soft with a little drape, not at all stiff, and both of the washes pictured are a classic light/medium blue.
- 90s jacket: roomy on-trend oversized fit, drop shoulders, slight pleats at the wrist cuffs
- Original trucker jacket: regular, more straight cut fit and on-seam shoulders
3. Ribcage Jeans
These are my other personal favorite Levi’s style, but I acknowledge that many petites don’t love this high of a rise! True to the name, the ribcage has an ultra high rise and a more relaxed straight leg that is cropped on the model but full length on me.
My uniform has been pairing these with a cardigan jacket and my ballet flats (example here) or sneakers. The pant leg covers up my socks fully, so I can wear my comfiest above-the-ankle cotton socks with sneakers for max comfort!
My most worn wash in these is the “In the Middle” light wash pictured below, which are a denim-tencel blend that’s thinner and softer than your usual more rigid Levi’s.
4. 501 Crop Jeans
These are a popular, “original” Levi’s jean that are similar to the Wedgie Straight but have more room around the hips and thighs on me. For my body type, I prefer the Wedgie Straight but wanted to show these since they come in petite-friendly inseams.
Hi,
Thank you for this great post ! I am hesitating about purchasing wedgie straight in fully baked to wear in summer. I am aftaid it would be too thick. Would you recommend it ?
Hi Ananda! The fully baked wash as a medium weight, its not their lightest weight denim (usually the tencel blend ones are lighter) and not their thickets. My usual size is more fitted but I also own the same jeans in 1 size up which are a looser fit and might be more comfortable in the summer!
Hi! Embarrassed to say Ive been following you for nearly a decade and this is my very first comment! 🫣obsessed with every outfit on this post! would love to know where is the white button up shirt from?
Hi Rita, thank you so much for all your support! It’s the Sezane tomboy shirt, I’ve previously reviewed it in a blog post here
Love your style and love the look of the Levi’s. Have you ever tried jeans with a little stretch? I find them to be sooo much more comfortable that it’s impossible to go back and wear old school Levi’s. Please let us know if you have recommendations for jeans that are a little bit more forgiving.
I have read you website for many years and have purchased many items on it.
Can you suggest a site where I can find long, sheer beach coverups for our petite group?
Thank you,
Regina
Hi Regina! Thanks so much for the kind note and for reading all these years. I’m actually looking for the same thing for this summer – lots of options on Amazon but I’m unsure how they’d look in person but will share if I find any winners! This J.Crew long beach shirt is also a popular option that should be better quality than Amazon.
where or the dark blue neans
Hi Lovetta, the dark blue jeans I’m wearing with the black sneakers are also from Levi’s! They’re the Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans in the wash “dark indigo” and are linked just below the photo 🙂
