Ladylike Puff Sleeves + 50% off Tops Sale

One of my favorite fashion forward details is a “strong” shoulder, but being petite it’s not a look I get to dabble in often! It can easily channel linebacker chic and make me appear as wide as I am tall. With this dress from Express, however, I feel the slight padded puff sleeves are enough to elevate a simple sheath yet keep it subtle. It comes in fresh white as well as black and a wine color, which would be beautiful for heading into the next season!

Although this piece is in regular sizing, it fits better than some petite pieces! The xxs regular is fitted on me, with a well proportioned waistline and hem that hits above my knees. The medium weight material feels similar to a stretchy crepe knit with lining, and note it’s pullover style with no zipper entry and the front buttons are faux (stitched shut). The bottom skirt has a gently flaring A-line shape.

If you’re looking for something similar but more figure defining, I want to point out that this belted button front pencil dress so many of us love (see it on me) is now available in a new, Fall ready “Rust” color! And if you’re keen on the sleeve detail here but would prefer a top to a dress, I tried on both this sheer puff sleeve top (adore the mesh sweetheart neckline) and this little puff sleeve blouse (torn between dots & snake print). Both tops are on the thinner knit side but very cute, especially tucked into a pair of high waisted jeans or a pencil skirt for the office. Both blouses are also currently 50% off! I would personally go one size up so they aren’t super fitted.

Do you also have issues with the heel of the wedges? My order (Carina) just arrived and my heel is slipping a little bit as the fabric at the back is a bit loose. I’m a size 35 so there’s no option to size down anymore.

Hi Sol, I know that their different styles can fit a bit differently but I haven’t had this issue with mine. My best suggestion is to put an insert in the front of your shoe – padding the front a bit should push your foot back and help it to fit a bit more snuggly.
