If you’re looking for a piece that’s just the right amount of glamour meets sexy, Dress the Population is a brand that does this combo rather well. Some of you might remember their Zoe sequin dress from this blog post (also love the muti-colored “confetti” sequin). It’s still one of my favorite standout pieces … sleek and curve-hugging with sparkle done right! In terms of adjustments, I did stitch up the plunge neckline about an inch since I have a shorter torso.
This Rebecca dress is another gorgeous option made with a lace and sequin overlay and nude lining. For some reason, the price point is notably less than similar styles from the brand! I typically wouldn’t try a midi length so far past my knees, but this dress came highly recommended by my very petite hairstylist whose style I adore. She’s under 5 feet tall and rocks so many looks typically considered petite “don’ts!”
The Rebecca midi dress is less stretchy and fitted than the Zoe sequin mini, so an XS works on me but is a little loose throughout, in particular at the hips. It would look smashing on someone with more curves to better fill it out! I love how the lining stops a few inches short of the scalloped lacy hem. This visually helps offset the longer length on petite women, and a pair of nude heels always helps as well!
For fellow Nordstrom fans, I’m partnering with them to share a few of their shopping services that I use on the regular. I do most of my shopping online, but if I’m in need of a gift or an item that same day, I’ll use the “buy online and pick up in store” option. For items that are in stock, your order is ready for pickup within two hours, and the pickup desk is usually located near the main entrance so you don’t have to wander through multiple floors and departments. If Nick is picking up an order for me and doesn’t even want to set foot inside the mall, he’ll use the “curbside service” where you text the number in your confirmation email, and an SA will bring your bag out to your car!
If my local store doesn’t have the item I’m looking for, another service I use (a little too often) is their expedited shipping. Nordstrom has everyday free standard shipping and returns, but for those last-minute needs, their expedited shipping fees are very reasonable ($9 for 2-day and $15 for next day ship). Just be sure to order by 3pm EST.
