To infinity (scarves) and beyond

Observing the winter street style in Paris reignited my love for circle / infinity scarves. I counted several of them being sported around town, oftentimes color-coordinated with the coat or sweater underneath so that it looked like one congruous piece. In this inspired look, I combined two olive knit pieces which together almost looks like a generous cowl-neck sweater. My scarf comes in 4 neutral colors and is now just $12, as part of many winter accessories marked down from Nordstrom’s half yearly sale!
olive green sweater jeans winter outfit extra petiteWhen shopping for distressed jeans, I always look for stock photos where the knee holes fall well above the actual knees of the model (like in this case!). Sure enough, the distressing placement on these jeans turned out to be perfect for shorter legs and the overall length just needed a ~ 1″ cuff on me. The 98% cotton / 2% spandex material is comfortable and reminds me of the Express light gray jeans that I wear to death. The website sizing lists a 25 as equal to 00, and I’d say these fit in between a typical 24 and 25 in designer denim with a small waist gap on me (better when worn with a belt). distressed black jeans outfit extra petite fashion blog
This trusty Blank NYC jacket is an oldie that’s still going strong! Even my critical grandma expressed approval for it this Christmas. I know I’ve said this before, but it feels better with age as the material gets softer and more pliable with wear.

Here’s how the scarf looks just alone over a sweater – compared to the oversized blanket scarves that I also love, infinity scarves are a little more compact, and transition more seamlessly for wearing indoors without looking out of place. Here’s another infinity scarf option at a steal for under $10, and I’ve also been eying this chunkier knit one in taupe.

Hi Anita – please see my old fit review here on the jacket: https://www.extrapetite.com/2013/10/blanknyc-faux-leather-jacket-and-olive.html I get a lot of my jacket sleeves with zippers shortened to fit. Any good tailor should be able to do it!

Thanks! I ended up buying the infinity scarf in this picture and it wasn't a problem at all. I bought gray, olive and navy and they have transformed my wardrobe. I only wish they still had the sweater in olive.

Did the sleeve length fit as well as it looks? I always have issues with them being too long. Haven't found one yet that works and I love the zippers.

Hi Grace! I'm wearing size xs (btw if it helps, I usually list the size of items I'm wearing right below the first picture). It is snug but I feel like moto jackets should fit that way. Maybe try on two sizes in order to find the one that fits best?

To be honest I'm not sure how to resolve that, unfortunately! Infinity scarves are not created equal in length though, so perhaps try on a few and compare the lengths in order to single out the ones that are made shorter? You could also try to pull more material down your back to visually "shorten" the front, but it might not stay put.

Hi Jean! What size do you have in the leather jacket? The Nordstrom reviews are all saying to size up, but I am skeptical!

I love the way this looks! Do you have a secret to making the scarf lay near your neck like in the picture? I have two infinity scarves and when I loop them they don't look like they do on my taller friends; they come way down and there is a gap where you can see my neck, like a necklace. I keep thinking of having some of the material removed, but couldn't on a knit scarf like this.
