Banana Republic sloan pants 00p, Prada tote, Calvin Klein heels, Quay sunglasses
There are always new trends to dabble in each season, but sometimes you just want to reach for timeless pieces in classic color combinations! Banana Republic has been one of my go-to stores for such looks, so I’m excited to partner with them for their Fall “Turn It Up” campaign. Turning it up doesn’t have to mean loud and bold. It can mean letting confidence come through as your best accessory. For me, something as simple as figure-flattering clothes can make a huge difference in feeling confident, which is why I dedicate so much of this blog towards fit and proportions.
This Melton wool trench (currently on sale!) comes in both regular and petites, and is one of those pieces that just flatter the right places and won’t go out of style anytime soon. The collar has good structure for standing up to create a lengthened neckline, and the belt and double back vents create a slightly hourglass silhouette. A higher-waisted, belted short jacket is great for pairing with trousers or jeans to maintain a long and lean leg line.
Layered over this thicker ribbed sweater, the jacket is a pretty close fit on me and the sleeves also hit right at my wrists. I’m wearing an xxs regular in the sweater and it’s a casual fit, on the slimmer side without the neck being too tight (my usual struggle with turtlenecks!). Like in my last post, I’m wearing three neutral colors here so added a print or two like these leopard pumps to make the look more cohesive.
These navy sloan pants continue to be probably my most-worn pair! Please note I have machine washed and dried them (against the dry clean only instructions) for a slightly shrunken fit. Reading through the reviews, it seems that the fit might have changed once again, although I hope not as I loved the last updated one. If anyone has tried on a pair recently, please share your thoughts!
I love this look. Beautiful & classic! The melton wool trench is a stunning fit! x
I laid out a new pair of just-ordered 00P Sloan ankle pants against my older 00P Sloan, and the new ones are indeed a different fit… wider through the leg and about an inch longer. Like you, I loved the previous update and am sad that the fit is different now! Not as great for petites, as it creates a less-slimming and less-flattering leg silhouette.
When unbelted & unbuckled-how do you deal with the straps? Let them hang or remove altogether?
Important Question: This was my first belted coat purchase & I love it in camel:) but when you choose to wear this coat (or any belted coat) unbuttoned & unbelted, do you let the straps fall or can you remove the belt altogether?
Hi Jean! I love all your posts! Just wondering if you could let me know what the lens height of your Avalons are? It looks like they come in a 45mm and a 55mm. Thank you!
Such a beautiful photos!

I bought a pair of Sloan fit khakis and they fit perfectly length-wise and through the legs, but the rear and upper thigh area are pretty roomy. :
I love those shoes! Where are they from?

I really enjoy the classic look in this post. I've found lately that I'm between a 0P and a 2P in the Banana Republic pants, but that a 0 Regular ends up fitting better at the top. I ordered a 0 Regular Short, so let's hope that does the trick!
I love this outfit and the Spode. I've had that coat sitting in my shopping cart for over a month now and you have styled it beautifully. As a professional photographer, I can also appreciate the lighting in this picture as it is just simply beautiful. You look absolutely amazing!

Hi Jean, can you show us how you tie the belt of the jacket?
I've also washed my Banana Republic Sloan pants and they come out fine. I only wish they offer the pants in even more neutral colors or patterns. Loving the trench…am now considering getting it.
you look so chic in that short beige coat!

I've been following your blog for a bit now and love all of your posts and recommendations. I don't wear petites but love your style. Ok the Sloane pants from Banana. Since June I've only been able to wear pants at work and the Sloan ones are the only ones that fit the best however when I went to buy new ones (I previously owned two pairs) they seemed a bit more snug than the ones I previously bought. I also noticed that out of the three new pairs I bought each fit a bit differently.
Also how have you dealt with the clasp enclosure? It tends to stick out and look weird under a more fitted shirt.
Also great belt…where did you get it from?
Sorry for the long post.
Thanks!!
Best,
Dina
Great look! Where is the belt from?

I noticed the change in the Sloan fit too! A few years ago I bought several pairs for work–they fit perfectly. It seems like a totally different cut now, just with the same name!
The Sloan pants are a wonderful fit! I'm a size 0 in the regular fit, I find it fits like a glove, and is nicely tapered throughout
Such a wonderful outfit ! I really love your jacket. This color is perfect for fall.
Many kisses

Hi Jean, I love this BR short wool coat. The neutral color is perfect and the belt is great for petite figures! And I own multiple Sloan pants and they are my go-to work pants. Thanks for introducing a classic fall/winter coat!
