Pretty in Pink + Taupe

Bobeau drape cardigan in “mink,” Sole Society heels (sizes mostly gone)

This dress from Ann Taylor looks very simple in the stock photo, but I fell in love after trying it on. As several reviewers mentioned, the shift design feels timeless and Jackie-O inspired, and oh how I enjoy the pockets! If you aren’t familiar with boiled wool, it has a nubbly texture that helps winterize this piece. I can see it being worn layered both under and over tops like turtlenecks and thin sweaters well into our chilly springtime.

Off the rack, this dress in size 00 petite hit at a demure length right at the top of my knees. I had 3 inches hemmed off for a shorter style, but asked my tailor to leave most of the extra material in case I wanted to let it back down in the future. The boiled wool-blend material is stretchy to grace over curves and is fully lined with an invisible back zip.

And the Bobeau drape fleece cardigan is back! I’m wearing xxsp in the mink color and am happy it’s still in such decent shape given how much I wore/abused it last year.

Do you hand wash your Bobeau cardigans or can you get away with putting them in the delicate cycle (perhaps in a laundry bag) without it shrinking?

I would wear the dress with grey tights, however I get so sick of tights outfits during Boston winters I usually just commute in any color pair and remove them once I get to wherever I'm working for the day.

  13. I happened to have purchased the dress (before I saw it on you) and wore it today with pearls. I liked that you are wearing it fairly loose, as I chose to do this as well. It looks lovely on you.

Jean. I gotta tell you, I wouldn't look twice at these outfits if I saw them online and they always look better on you than the models – every time! I share your stylish taste and really appreciate reading your posts because you have helped me pull things together that I would never have considered before. I have made many, many (too many) purchases from your recommendations. And the way you described boiled wool is spot on. I've always wanted something in this material. Unfortunately, the sz 2P is all sold out at Ann Taylor, but that's ok. Something else will come up for me. Thank you Jean.

Really like fleece items but they tend to come in very casual styles (hoodies, pullovers, sweats etc). What I like about your cardigan is that it's dressier than most fleece styles. I've been eyeing this Polar Fleece Blazer from Land's End in the celestial blue in warm grey. It's got pockets, dressier and has the comfort of warm fleece. Land's End currently has a code for 40% off a regular price. It's PUMPKIN with pin 4606.
