Happy Friday! As the temps keep dropping, I wanted to share another round of work outfit ideas featuring cold weather pieces like chunky knit cardigans and wool blazers and skirts. I’m also dipping into holiday style with this adorable embellished pearl button cardigan and a hint of shine in my shoes. My Sézane gold sandals taught me over the summer that metallic shoes can be a “neutral,” and are actually surprisingly versatile for everyday wear!
1. Festive cardigan + Trousers
A&F just kicked off a sale with 25% off all outerwear with 15% off the rest of the site, so I wanted to share this little cardigan in advance! The pearl and gold rimmed buttons are right up my alley, and the semi cropped length is great for petites. The sleeves are on the long side though so I folded them up. This also looks super cute paired with this slip skirt or trouser jeans.
Shop all A&F petite coats + petite jackets. I’ll be posting more about their Petite Tailored top coat (longer, heavier weight) vs Dad coat soon!
2. Wool skirt + sweater + blazer
Continuing my navy + brown streak with another way to style this beautiful quality Theory skirt – see it also worn here with an off shoulder sweater. It’s a little short for a professional office, but could work for a creative one. And this Quince sweater is another one of my must-have elevated basics that I own in multiple colors – see the brown also worn here with jeans and a duster cardigan.
3. Oversized cardigan + slim ankle pants + loafers
This chunky oversized sweater has been comfy for weekends paired with my vintage jeans (see on me here), and can also work for the office balanced with a slimmer cut pant.
4. Cardigan lady jacket + slip skirt
This sweater jacket continues to be one of my most worn pieces in solid black and stripe. So easy to throw on over a pair of jeans and flats for a Parisian-inspired casual chic outfit. The red sweater jacket is a gorgeous color in person and tempting for the holidays, Lunar Near Year, or as a year round classic pop of color.
5. Wide Leg Pants + Fitted Tee + Sweater over the Shoulders
These pants in Navy have been a wardrobe staple all year long, so much that I finally bought the grey as well. I’ll be doing an updated review on these pants soon comparing the Petite and Regular sizing – the Regular is surprisingly nice on shorter customers for a full length option that I can wear with flats!
Love this, Jean! Would you consider doing a winter workwear post? I’m starting a new consulting job in January and haven’t been client-facing since before the pandemic.
In particular, I’d love to see how you’d style leather boots with skirts or trousers (or what you’d recommend instead).
xoxo – kathryn
Congrats on the new job! And thank you for the suggestion on a work outfits with boots post – I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Ankle boots are a little easier to style for trousers, and knee high boots work best with skirts or dresses!
Hey Jean, how do the quince sweaters wash? Wondering if they pull up quickly?
Hi Lindsay! To help preserve my sweaters, I wash them only when actually dirty, and if I get a stain on it then I’d spot clean the stain instead of the whole sweater.
I wear the regular $50 crewnecks most regularly and experience a little pilling like on any other cashmere sweater I have! Any pilling is also usually treatable with a sweater comb or shaver.
Love how versatile loafers can be!
I agree, they’ve become such a staple in my wardrobe!
Love your style and suggestions. How do I ensure that you receive credit for purchases that you have recommended?
Hi Linda, that so thoughtful of you thank you for asking! I receive credit for purchases made directly from a link on this blog or through my Liketoknow.it page
Jean, curious what color did you get the Amazon slip skirt in?
Hi Barbara, I have the Amazon slip skirt in black (shown on me here) and in “Silver Cloud” which is very pretty color that is similar to my Quince skirt from this post, but on the cooler toned side.
