Bow Back Maxi + Satin Slip Dress in Petites

Express tiered maxi dress xxs petite c/o, knotted square toe sandal, nippies adhesive “bra” (would recommend Nubra if you need a little support), vintage bag

Every so often I come across a maxi that flows dreamily and is the perfect length, even on my shorter frame. This tiered dress comes in 2 colors in both regular and petites, and is a romantic piece for events like baby or bridal showers or even a summer wedding (although I’d definitely opt for the “tomato” color unless you’re the bride)! I’m partnering with Express to share more on this dress and a few other petite-friendly finds.

Tiered Maxi Dress

Petite & Regular sizes xxs – L, also in tomato red

The details make this maxi dress more special, from the adjustable bow tie back, romantic ruffled sleeves, and flowy tiers that move beautifully as you walk. My usual size xxs petite is a good fit and the length doesn’t drag on the ground for me even with flat shoes on (I’m 5 feet tall)! The back half of the waist is elasticized to help with fit, and the fabric is lightweight with a very slight crinkle texture to it and fully lined. “Sandshell” is a very light rose beige color rather than a stark white.

Classic Satin Slip Dress

Petite & regular sizes xxs – L, in 6 colors

See it styled on me differently in a video in this post. I actually got this midi slip dress over a year ago and just saw it has finally been restocked in petite sizing, in both black and swan! It’s a simple but classic and elegant piece that can be worn several ways across seasons – a great foundation piece I’d recommend for even a smaller capsule wardrobe. The xxs petite fits me well and is figure grazing without being too tight or loose, and the length hits a few inches below my knees.ite

Lace Trim Wrap Dress

Petite & regular sizes xxs – xL

While this piece is shorter than what I would go for these days, I wanted to share since for those who like a more mini length. This is a faux wrap style with flirty flutter sleeves that are eye catching but not overwhelming on a petite frame. It’s a comfortable fit with an elastic smocked waist and removable sash belt which adds some contrast. The dress is fully lined and made of a nice quality medium weight, 100% cotton eyelet lace fabric.

FlexX Jeans

In multiple rises, styles & inseams

Last month I shared a quick review of Express’ newest FlexX jeans which are designed to stretch in all directions and fit up to 2-3 sizes! The xs Short in the style I own is a very comfortable fit on me with no waist gap, and a petite-friendly length that hits above my ankles. I wanted to point out that this weekend they’re running a promo which includes two pairs of FlexX jeans for $99 (ends Sunday 8/29).

Hi, are you selling the maxi dress by any chance? Express doesn’t have it listed for sale anymore and it’s so cute!

Did you wear your fav shaper shorts with this? Wondering if they would be visible in the back…

There is a little give at the dress belly area and it’s lined, so no need for shaper shorts but anything high waisted would be visible from the back!

Hi Jean, is the maxi dress bump friendly? 🙂

This one isn’t very bump friendly as it doesn’t have much stretch to it. But I did share a few options in this post that have good stretch and would be bump / nursing friendly!

Thank you! They’re a few years old from BP at Nordstrom, but I’ll keep an eye out for similar options

Hello Jean! I’m looking at the Flex jeans and it has a petite and a short option. What’s the difference between them? Is it the length and the inseam that’s different?

Hi Emily, I haven’t tried the Flexx petites yet but I’ve compared several other denim styles from Express and the difference is almost not noticeable. Sometimes I’ve even measured from the exact same style and there was no difference in inseam
