Following my last post on how to camouflage a belly, this darling dress with elastic waistline and a flared, tiered skirt has been so comfortable and flattering. In addition to stretch at the waistline, stretch around the neckline and sleeves help make regular pieces easy to pull down and nursing friendly. I’m partnering with Nordstrom to share some recent finds, including this effortlessly feminine outfit, my favorite petite friendly lightweight cotton robe, and a few more summer pieces below!
Brixton Straw Hat
A classic wide brim straw hat with black ribbon detail. If you often have trouble finding hats that fit your head, what made this one in stand out is the fact that it comes in multiple sizes (S, M, L), plus has an adjustable velcro strap tucked away on the inside (see photo below) to help get the perfect fit! Update: a few of you mentioned the hat you received doesn’t have this strip, for some reason! They might have phased it out. If the hat you get is still too big, try my hack for a more snug and secure fit.
Slide Sandals
Just restocked! I’ve had these for a while – an easy neutral slide that you can quickly slip on for an on trend look. The 2″ heel is a very walking-friendly while still providing a bit of height. These versatile sandals come in 4 colors, and sizes 5 – 11.
Tiered Flowy Dress
Very floaty and lightweight for summer with a subtle textured fabric. I’m wearing the xs, but note it fits big on me off the rack (I typically take xxs, if available) in the torso and shoulder area. I may get it altered, but in a pinch, I took it in about 2 inches along the back center using a few safety pins from the inside. Because the torso has a gathered look, the pinned area is fairly camouflaged on me.
Since the waist of this dress is elastic and the skirt is flared, this would also be a bump-friendly piece! While the overall silhouette is fairly classic, small details like the puffed sleeves, gathered neckline, and tiered skirt give this more of a romantic, feminine look. The entire dress is double layered but I would still recommend wearing skin-toned undergarments with any white clothing.
Measurements of XS when lying flat: 16″ across armpit, 11.75″ across waist when lying flat and stretches up to over 15″ across. 14″ from top of shoulder to waistline, total dress length 46″.
Side note, if you follow along on IG you’ll know I’ve been wearing this waffle robe almost daily! It’s 100% lightweight cotton, and runs smaller and shorter than most robes which makes it a perfect option for a petite frame and with sleeves that won’t drag or get wet in the sink. Given how the fit runs, I sized up to an xs but could possibly even go up to a small since it shrinks a little in the dryer. I also love the pockets on this one!
Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
How did you pinch in 2 inches is it around the waist?
Hi Jean, I just bought this hat but canmt find its velcro strap to adjust the side. Are you sure you linked the correct hat on this post? If yes, can you send a more detailed photo about where the strap is? Thanks!
Hi, yes the correct hat is linked! There is a photo within the post that shows a closer up shot of the velcro strip, but it is a bit hidden when looking at the hat in person.
If you look at the black inner band where it says Brixton, flip / fold the wide black band down. On the inside there should be a thin black strap with velcro.
