High Waisted Slim Jeans
In short, regular and long inseams
I’ve shared straight and tapered cuts recently, but for another option that’s just a tad more relaxed than skinnies, these “slim” cut jeans are a great option. Every once in a while Express really nails a denim style like this pair. They’re stretchy, medium weight, and fitted at the waist with a slim leg and ankle opening. Not as tight as skinnies, not as wide as straight leg. I’ve been featuring more non-stretch denim lately, but I know many of you still love the stretch factor for comfort.
I also love the wash on these – a versatile medium blue with a slightly broken-in finish. I’ve worn these for full days and they material does not stretch or bag out!
Fit wise, Express denim in “short” or “petite” is usually a very good fit on me without alterations. You can see the Short length on me below un-cuffed, or cuffed up above with flats for a more laid-back feel. The inseam of size 00 Short measures 24.5″ long and the rise is 10.5″.
Bow Strap Peplum Tank
In 4 colors, sizes xxs – xl
A feminine summer top with a petite friendly fit. The hem of the xxs hits right at my natural waist, so it may be a bit short on someone who is tall or has a longer torso. The bow ties on the straps are decorative (not adjustable) and there is a zipper closure on the back.
Square neck wrap dress
In 5 colors, petite and regular sizing starting in xxs
A comfortable and lightweight stretchy summer dress for everyday wear! It has a faux wrap skirt in the front that ties off to the side. The stretchy knit jersey makes this a good casual dress option with flat sandals, but it can also be dressed up easily with statement earrings and heels for summer drinks or date night.
Thank you to Express for partnering on this post.
Love the styling!
Super cute – love all your selections.
For me, it was wearing comfy pants on sad-pandemic-furlough almost daily. So easy to slip on and off! When I was only putting skinny jeans on just once or twice a week, I realized how much I would rather not fuss with tighter fitting pants.
So for once, my fashion veered towards the trendier side, even before I heard skinnies were out. (Not that I tossed mine — sometimes, at my height, I need them to look like the Gen X that I am, haha.)
I have been buying Express jeans through your links for years because your detailed notes are so helpful! These look what I’ve been needing. And the dress! Thank you, Jean!
I agree, less fitted jeans were very welcomed after getting so used to wearing joggers so often!
But where is the straw bag from?
It’s from an Etsy shop but unfortunately this exact style is no longer available
I have the exact same comment about the skinny jeans. They’re slowly moving to the bottom of the pile. I’m going to check these out at Express. Thanks Jean. You look wonderful as usual. I enjoy your posts so much.
Hi Val, I hope your summer is going well! I love that these Express jeans are both comfortable and flattering – a perfect alternative to the skinny jeans we’re both wearing less and less frequently!
Great looks! Thank you for your ideas. They are so helpful.
Thank you Susan!
