Soft Jersey Drape Pants + Black Cropped Blazer

Boston style blogger, Extra Petite shares how she styles soft jersey drape pants, a double ruffle tee, and a black cropped blazer.

Express drape pants xxs petite (current version), Steve Madden sandals 5.5 (similar),
Express tee xsp c/o (similar) + cropped blazer 00p c/o, Mansur Gavriel tote, Chanel bag

This outfit is a little different from what I usually gravitate towards, in terms of the slightly trendier silhouette and darker, moodier color scheme. I love how everything came together, though, in a look that still feels tailored and very much like my own style!

I’m partnering with Express petites today to share a few finds available in extended sizing like xxs / 00p (finally!), and are currently fully in stock! This might be my first time trying a peg leg-style trouser – it’s a cross between the slim ankle pants that I usually wear, and the baggy harem pants that I’ll reserve only for MC Hammer. When cut just subtlety loose in a “relaxed” fit, the result is a comfortable pair of soft pants that you’ll want to live in all day.

Olive drape pants

These drape pants are made in a stretchy, machine-washable jersey fabric that’s on the thinner side, and feels cool in the summer heat. They have an elasticized waistband that’s a touch loose on me, but as with many of my bottoms lately, a sash tie waist belt comes to the rescue. The length hits right by my ankles so won’t require hemming on fellow shorties, even with flats on (see the end of this post)! I also love how these pants are styled on the model, with a cropped black turtleneck and bomber jacket.

Measurements: xxs petite is 13″ across the waistband when un-stretched, with a 26″ inseam.

This is the same double ruffle tee that I purchased in white a while back and featured in this recent post. The frill sleeves add a hint of femininity, while the black color keeps it feeling edgy. Note I’m around 5′ tall and the top is the right length on me when untucked, so the petites might be a little short on taller ladies.

Below, I also wanted to show how this outfit works with low, casual slide sandals (similar) for an afternoon of walking around town. Nick kept complimenting this look, which tells me branching out once in a while is not a bad thing!

Your blog is such an inspiration! Will you encourage Express to carry more extended sizes? So frequently when I try to purchase from Express, the XXS and XS are sold out (such as these pants). Ugh!

I just love your style, effortless without trying too hard. I have the opposite problem finding clothes that fit properly (I'm 5'9) but you are definitely one of my inspirations. can't wait to pay off my debt so I can really do some clothes shopping damage :)!

I love the colour of those trousers, and I think they look better on you than they do on the model in the stock photo! And so affordable. Win win! X

Hi Jessica – unfortunately I think they are petites only, like with many other brands. I guess there just isn't enough demand in-stores for most brands to offer it.

Hi Catherine – congratulations on your pregnancy! How exciting! And that's great to know these stretch to accommodate bump growth : ) I'm sure stretchy, elastic-waistbands are your best friend!

Hi Hope! Thank you for your comment! I haven't done a closet sale in a long time as I usually donate to Dress for Success or other organizations locally. I do occasionally sell higher end bags. If I ever do another sale I will likely post about it on Instagram!

Hi there! Ah..I wish I could be of more help, but unfortunately I've only heard of online authenticators where you send in high res images (I know that's not ideal). Good luck in finding one locally for some peace of mind!!

Are Express Petites available in store? Or just online? I hope they are available in store — it is so frustrating ordering online!

Great outfit! I bought these pants based on your recommendation and am wearing them now at my business casual workplace. As an aside, they work remarkably well as maternity pants. That super stretchy waist feels comfortable on my 23 week belly and the soft material is like wearing sweatpants. And they don't wrinkle!

I absolutely adore your style. Thanks for switching it up a bit. I, too, find it hard to step out of my comfort zone. Do you ever sell items you no longer want (anything from basic essentials to your higher end goods)? I'm the exact size as you in clothing with the only difference being I wear a size 6 in shoes. I'd love to shop your closet!! I sell/buy on Poshmark so I'm super curious if you sell on Tradesy, Poshmark, eBay, etc.

Hi Jean, lovely outfit! I see that you were carrying the Chanel classic flap in one of the photos – what a stunning outfit. Is there a authenticator in Boston you would recommend? I noticed from your previous posts/youtube video that you have purchased pre-loved, and I just purchased a pre-loved and would really like to have peace of mind with it. Really appreciate any recommendation you might be able to give.
