Express tee xsp c/o (similar) + cropped blazer 00p c/o, Mansur Gavriel tote, Chanel bag
This outfit is a little different from what I usually gravitate towards, in terms of the slightly trendier silhouette and darker, moodier color scheme. I love how everything came together, though, in a look that still feels tailored and very much like my own style!
I’m partnering with Express petites today to share a few finds available in extended sizing like xxs / 00p (finally!), and are currently fully in stock! This might be my first time trying a peg leg-style trouser – it’s a cross between the slim ankle pants that I usually wear, and the baggy harem pants that I’ll reserve only for MC Hammer. When cut just subtlety loose in a “relaxed” fit, the result is a comfortable pair of soft pants that you’ll want to live in all day.
These drape pants are made in a stretchy, machine-washable jersey fabric that’s on the thinner side, and feels cool in the summer heat. They have an elasticized waistband that’s a touch loose on me, but as with many of my bottoms lately, a sash tie waist belt comes to the rescue. The length hits right by my ankles so won’t require hemming on fellow shorties, even with flats on (see the end of this post)! I also love how these pants are styled on the model, with a cropped black turtleneck and bomber jacket.
Measurements: xxs petite is 13″ across the waistband when un-stretched, with a 26″ inseam.
This is the same double ruffle tee that I purchased in white a while back and featured in this recent post. The frill sleeves add a hint of femininity, while the black color keeps it feeling edgy. Note I’m around 5′ tall and the top is the right length on me when untucked, so the petites might be a little short on taller ladies.
Below, I also wanted to show how this outfit works with low, casual slide sandals (similar) for an afternoon of walking around town. Nick kept complimenting this look, which tells me branching out once in a while is not a bad thing!
Thank you to Express for partnering on this post.
Wondering the same.
This is very different for you but it is still perfect and put together. These pants are lovely as well!

I love this outfit! You look so classy in it! I actually have a very similar pair of pants, so I love the inspiration on how to style them. Although, I'm going to look into maybe getting this pair as well because I love the length.

Hi Jean! Thank you for this! Have a fabulous week xx

I love how you styled the dark colours together. The dark green trousers are very chic!
Ever wondered how to style patterns together and look great? link
This look is unbelievably gorgeous, Jean! I love it so much! You look so chic and sophisticated!
Love this outfit. One of my favorites.
Nice look. Love the edgier vibe.
So cute! I own a similar pair from Express in white and I'm so obsessed. Such a classy style!

I am wondering how the butt looks, as I feel like these kind of pants make your derrière look non existent.
Such an amazing outfit and I'm so in love with your pants!

I love those pants. I'm wondering how they would look on a more voluptuous petite. When you're size is 10P and not 00P, jersey can cling to lumps and bumps.
Love this entire outfit but the pants deff steal the show!
You look amazing, girl♥

Hi Annika! I included the measurements up above … the waist of the xxs petite measures 13" across, so will be loose at your nautural waist (may fit better lower near your hips). I have the same waist measurement as you and I used the sash belt to tighten up the waist area.
Hi! I love this look, but I have a question. My measurements are 30-24-34 and I was wondering if I'd go with the XXS Petite in those pants or not..
It's so hard to find pants as a short person! Glad to know Express has these!

Hi there – yes I've done several Chanel handbag reviews back in my archives : ) You can also go to my YouTube channel (user: extrapetiteblog) for my review videos!
So chic and beautiful!

Hi there! Personally I think these might be a little too trendy for a professional office given the slouchier silhouette. I picture them more at more creative business fields like advertising, etc. I could be wrong, though!
Hi Danielle! So I just measured the petite and they are about 26" at the inseam for xxsp, and probably increase slightly as the waist sizes go up. Since you're over 4" taller than me, I'd probably recommend the regular sizing! I find their regular waist sizing to run bigger than petites though, so maybe size down on the waist if you're in between two sizes.
Hi Maria ~ I hope you love the pants! Boston is a small town…I'm sure we'll get to cross paths! : )
Beautiful look, i love this blog

Thanks Kim! I think I need to venture out to more colors next! Been stuck in my neutrals rut : )
Hi Judy, thanks for the feedback! Hmm … so Express sizing can vary quite a bit, but for these pants in particular, I just measured the xxs petite and the waistband is 13" across when lying flat and un-stretched. It stretches another inch or two comfortably. The inseam on these are 26" so if that's too short for you, maybe try regular sizing (but I would definitely go down to xxs with regular sizing, since reg usually runs bigger than petites)
Hi Serena! So the pants are a polyester / spandex blend and have a more fluid "slinky" feel, if that makes sense. It feels very different from cotton, and is not a material that wrinkles easily (from my experience so far!).
Great outfit! Is that a med-large double flap Chanel handbag? I just ordered a jumbo double flap from Trendlee in lambskin. Have you ever done a review on these bags? Thanks!
Love this outfit!! Very versatile.
Thank you for another great outfit Jean, I've been looking for this type of pant! I'm curious, would you wear it to work? I work in a business/business-casual office and don't like to wear blazers, so my normal ensemble consists of ankle pants or skirts and blouses. How would you style a sash belt pant so it is office appropriate? Thanks!
Hi Jean,
I really like this outfit and I think that it suits for you! 🙂 My favourite piece is the pant, of course. Have a lovely day!

Such a sophisticated look! I am forever looking for pants that will be cool enough during my walk to work, but still polished/conservative enough once I get to the office. These sound like they might work!
Those olive pants are right up my alley! They look so comfy.

Hi Jean,
I'm currently loving this trendier pant silhouette. I'm a little over 5'4" — would the petite work for me or should I go with the regular length?
xx

I have these pants andblove them, they look fabulous on you.

Ahhh love everything about this outfit! Just ordered the pants in black and olive myself, great find! Still hoping to run into you in Boston one day 🙂
Hi Jean! I love this look on you, too. I'm digging edgy right now and after a long period of being very pro colorful, I'm really loving black.
I absolutely love the olive and black pairing, olive is one of my favourite shades to wear in winter. Those pants are beautiful and are such a flattering cut. I'd love a pair like that!

LOVE this look! Your usual style while impeccable is too feminine for my personal wardrobe but this is spot on – would love to see you step outside your comfort zone like this even more in the future 🙂
I normally wear size 26 in most jeans e.g. J Brand, what size would you recommend for me in Express bottoms?
Hi Jean, thanks for posting about this very stylish and work appropriate outfit! Can you comment on if the pants wrinkle easily? How do they look after a day of sitting? Thanks!
Love the outfit. I love those type of jersey pants <3 I have a pair of comfy navy blue ones myself!
