There’s a few F&F; sales going on right now that I wanted to mention, before they end tomorrow (Monday) night! At Baublebar, take 25% using code YESPLEASE with everyday free shipping & returns. My suggestions are their crystal statement necklaces similar to ones I have, this delicate mother-of-pearl pendant which I love, and these adorable crispin earrings that I just got off the waitlist. Please note items marked “BB essentials” are unforutnately excluded.
At Tory Burch, take 30% off $250+ using code FALL16, with free shipping & returns. This is better than their prior F&F; sales which usually started at 20% to 25% off. Reva flats are excluded per usual along with some of their popular Minnie fold-able flats, however the Minnie in these solid & these metallic colors are included! I personally thought these were more comfortable than the Revas. Amongst their bags, my favorite collection is still the Robinson – the large zip tote in saffiano leather is a classic, easy-to-clean option for work and should fit most laptops.
On to my outfit in this post ~ I was actually not sold on either the dress nor the jacket initially, but brought them home to mull over. Sometimes small tweaks and a little styling can make a big difference! The dress is knee length, but I did my old trick of folding excess material over a belt and it instantly looked more balanced with a shorter length. It’s a temporary fix, and I like the dress enough to get it hemmed. It’s actually on clearance online for an awesome price (lower online than in-store) with sizes fully in stock – use code 0040 for free shipping over $40.
This jacket comes in pink or black, and reminds me of one of my old favorites from H&M; but in a lighter weight crepe material. They actually have several similar jackets out but I tried most of them on and liked this the best. The crepe material drapes nicely and the silhouette is clean and elegant. I had the sleeves shortened by my tailor, as well as the length – however I regret hemming the length because it no longer looks as sleek, so would advise against it! The second photo in this post shows the original length, un-altered.
The cotton-blend material of this dress has tiny swiss dots that you only see up close.
These photos were taken at the wedding of our good friends. It was a beautiful end-of-summer day, topped off with a sweet ceremony and amazing New England grub like clam chowder, fresh oysters, and a clambake lobster dinner. My girlfriends and I inadvertently all showed up in soft pink frocks and nude sandals – we’re pretty sure some other guests assumed we were bridesmaids!
One note about this dress is that the ruffles definitely move with the wind! Be sure to wear lipcolor that doesn’t transfer easily, otherwise most of it may end up on the front of your dress ; )
You are welcome! I purchase many items due to the tips on your site and have directed some tiny friends to your blog as well. I live near San Diego (Temecula wine country), and I have noticed you visit the area a bit. Do you know of any other tiny bloggers near here? You have great ideas but sometimes too warm for here : ) Plus I am in my 50's : /
Would love to see a tutorial on your hair! Looks gorgeous!
Did you also alter the width of the sleeve for the pink jacket?
Thank you for the tip, Denise!!
I tried that dress on at H&M; the other day! It's very cute, and I love the ruffles, but wasn't quite as flattering on me. I love the last pic! Thanks for always keeping it real. 🙂

A little trick for wrangling your ruffle…..Joyus has a clothing glue-stick on their website that is useful for polo collars that flip up, blouses that have gaps, even hems. It is temporary and washes out in the laundry. My husband and sons use them more that I do! Thank you for your blog and much love from a fellow (but much older) five-footer : )
I adore this dress, what a wonderful colour and style. It really suits you.

The ruffles look super pretty in the first picture! I have a ruffle-y dress, but in white, that is pretty similar. I wonder if there's a way to make it permanently stand up like that.
Beautiful outfit, that shade of pink looks lovely on you

This dress is so incredibly cute in the blush pink color and with its voluminous ruffles! What a great trick on folding excess material with a belt for a temporary fix. Did that stay put or did you find yourself needing to reposition your dress frequently?

The last picture is hilarious! I've definitely transferred endless amount of lip color to my ruffle dresses with San Francisco being so windy all the time. You're so nifty in folding the excess material over the belt, thanks for the tip!

Hi Jean, this blush pink dress and neutral heels are so cute for an end-of-summer wedding! I like the swiss dots up close and the ruffle details. And thanks for the reminder about the wind; always refreshing to see outtakes or un-edited photos!

Simply pink and simply beautiful! 🙂
Merci for the warning of the ruffles move with the wind. Just have to make sure it's not a windy day then! 🙂
