Elephants on the Loose

I’m a sucker for cute whimsical prints…they’re an instant pick-me-up when getting dressed in the mornings, and also make for good convo starters! I fell in love with this sweater on a mannequin and thought it’d be a rather versatile piece for layering. The elephants are woven into the knit (not just printed on), and the piece is conveniently machine-washable.

I’ve posted briefly about these pants before – I like the textured cotton oxford and pale blue color, but the fit could be slimmer (I tapered the bottoms of the legs a bit) and the material does show some wrinkles. I think they look fine in person, though, and you can’t beat the price.

I hadn’t been to Talbots in a while, but they have a couple of other cute summer chic pieces like this colorblocked striped tee, scalloped dot top, or this moroccan print tunic top. Their items are usually good quality but note sizing is roomy, however knit stretchy tops in a petite size P can usually work on me. My favorite section is the shoes, although they only carry 5 and 5.5 online. Some of my favorite sandals from years past are from there which I get questions on all the time! A few classic picks from this season include these low block heel sandals which are getting sparse in small sizes, these mid-height block heel city sandals (comes in so many good neutral colors!), and these scalloped kitten-heels in a pretty mint.

  2. Talbots! Who would have thought? There was a time if I bought anything at Talbot's I wouldn't admit to it. That is such a fun print. My first thought when I saw it was ModCloth. Time to give Talbot's a second look.

I have the same oxford cloth pants and agree about the leg needing to be a bit slimmer. I was hoping a wash and tumble dry might shrink them a bit but it did little to solve the issue. Did you handle the alteration yourself or take the pants to your tailor? I'm considering the former because it seems like an easy fix!
