I’m always on the lookout for a good gingham, and when I put this dress on it was love at first try. As you guys may remember from my first post with Maison Jules, some of their items run on the smaller side which can be good news for petites. When shopping I look for promising signs like high waistlines, snug armholes and/or cropped lengths on the taller models. Such was the case with this dress which ended up fitting nicely off-the-rack, with the waistline and total length even hitting near my ideal spots. The silhouette is a swingy flare that moves when you do, not a full puffy flare.
Quality is also nice with a textured cotton-blend material (no stretch), full lining, and invisible back zipper – plus it is machine washable. The construction of the bottom portion of this dress reminds me of my plaid circle skirt from the same brand. I hope they’ll continue to use this same flattering pattern in future seasons with different fabrics and prints!
Measurements of an XS: 15″ across the armpits, 12″ across the waist 34″ total length. I also have some photos of how this looks worn with low, flatter shoes in a future post.
Thank you to Maison Jules for partnering on this post! Here are their other spring new arrivals – they also have a similarly swingy-looking skirt in a smaller gingham print which looks darling with a sleeveless button-up, knotted at the waist.

What a classic shape and classic fabric. I love the black and white gingham of this dress, it makes a print closer to a basic. The fit looks amazing on you, so flattering and fresh! Definitely interested in picking this or the skirt soon!

Gingham isn't my thing but I like that it's not a full puffy flare and more of a swingy flare. Looks great on you 🙂

A newer follower here, I love your style and it has helped me redefine my own personal style and taste. I never would have thought of looking more critically at the construction of clothing to see if they would work for me, or how a little bit of tailoring will bring an item to the next level. Love this dress on you! I love a good classic black and white gingham pattern too!

Hi Jean, I am located in Boston as well and I am looking to alter my wedding dress slightly. May I ask which tailor you used for your dress? Thanks for your help and great outfit!
