White summer: Ann Taylor eyelet shirtdress

Ann Taylor dress c/o, vintage Hermes belt,
Dune shoes (search for “Harah”) (gold version), AT scarf & tote (current version)

Just a short post for today, as we’re currently up to our necks in last-minute wedding tasks! I’ve been posting snippets of our planning via Snapchat stories (FYI for those who aren’t on there yet, each story expires in just 24 hours) so find me there at username: extrapetite.

I brought this dress to Paris and wore it casually here with sandals and denim, but you can dress it up for the office with a cardigan or blazer, and flat shoes or closed-toe pumps. These photos were snapped at a charming little junction in the 7th arrondissement. It was hard for Nick to focus on taking photos, with the aroma of fresh chocolate croissants wafting from the bakery next door! I turned around for a split second to pick out some flowers, and he had already wandered off to load up on treats and baguettes.ann taylor white eyelet dress2
I have been loving these Dune sandals (search for the “Harah” style in the site searchbox) and wish they made extended sizing. On their site I was excited to see US 5 as an option, but when the shoes arrived, the size on the label is actually EUR 36. Some brands say EUR 36 converts to a US 5, but I found that these fit more closely to a roomy US 5.5 or true 6. I kept these nevertheless because the feminine styles they offer felt compared to my usual US brands, and the quality is good for the price.

Please note I am wearing an underskirt with this dress, not for sheerness coverage but for fuller volume. I’m wear the same one I made for this knit dress back in this post. The natural cut of this dress is an A-line silhouette that falls a little closer to the body, poofing out less than as shown in these photos. The natural A-line silhouette is more office friendly – I like lots of fullness for a casual setting thus experimented with my DIY underskirt.
ann taylor white eyelet dress5Love the eyelet details on the bottom and the upper back! For sizing reference, I’m wearing a 00 petite with no alterations. As mentioned before, the waist has about an inch of room on me, which can be easily cinched with a belt if you want to accentuate that area. Dress is 97% cotton / 3% spandex, is lined on the bottom half and has an invisible side zipper for entry.

Hi Jean, I just got these sandals and was wondering how comfortable they are. Are you able to walk long distances with them or is it more for a little bit of walking. The last thing I need right now is a show sitting in my closet. Did you have to break them in a little?

hi jean! thanks so much for your helpful and stylish posts. they're such a pleasure to see. i was wondering if you had an opinion on the prada saffiano double zip tote vs the prada saffiano cuir double bag. i don't live near a store to try them on / check them out first and am your height and frame (and taste it seems!), would love to know your thoughts! thanks in advance.

There was a time when The Little Bra Company sent out several styles to bloggers about. Jean did one (YouTube, I think) and so did Jen from Fromheadtotoe (love that lady's sincerity and genuine personality). Once you find one blogger, you should be able to find others easily

Hi Jean Have you ever purchased anything from Aritzia.com? It's so petite friendly. I'm a bit shorter than you and bought the grenville jogger pants in the xxs and they fit perfectly! Not sure if they have Aritzia stores in Boston.

The Dune sandals are gorgeous, but are they comfortable? I know they're not too high of a heel but I find with a chunky raised heel and thin sole, my feet get achy quite fast

Hi Jean! Love your site. I was wondering if you would do a post about petite undergarments. Specifically, bras. I have tried to find a petite bra that fits nicely to no avail. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Another great post! Could you perhaps do a post about belts? I love your Hermes and the way you pair it with so many of your outfits, but financially an Hermes isn't feasible. Can you recommend anything like it to your readers? All of my belts are very long and some are too sturdy to fold over into a triangle/heart shape that you showed us. 🙂
