Ann Taylor mitered stripe skirt + petite shirtdress reviews

I popped into a AT store last week to review new arrivals, including the navy chevron skirt I mentioned previously. I was pleasantly surprised by this skirt in person – even though it’s labeled 100% poly just like the dress version that I own, I thought the material felt nicer in comparison and actually very close to what real silk feels like. It’s fully lined with an invisible side zipper, and has nice movement that I can’t convey in these photos. A note on length – this skirt in 00P hit right below my ankles, so my guess is it’s probably designed to be shorter than full maxi length.

Typical to Ann Taylor sizing, the waistband was a little loose on me but not as bad as I thought. It sat about an inch or two below my belly button, so my best guesstimate is that a 00P waistband measures approx. 26″ around.

And here is the 100% cotton Clipdot Pleated Shirt Dress in 00 petite (also available in solid pink cotton). The silhouette of this dress is flattering and the fit in the waist was only slightly roomy – fixable for someone my size simply with a belt. The pleated skirt has medium fullness, which is enough to give it shape yet not too full for the workplace. I’m also happy to report there are on-seam pockets on both side!

The button-up front goes all the way down the length of the dress. This dress would be cute for work under a cropped cardigan/blazer, or I can picture it for weekend strolls or with a sun hat for an afternoon touring wineries (a girl can dream!). Closeup of the dots, which are more like short dashes:

And if you’re into lace, this scalloped dress that I haven’t seen before looks promising. I love the look of feminine scalloped lace against the grosgrain ribbon, and the gently flaring skirt. The deep mullbery color looks gorgeous, although more fall than spring/summer. If anyone has tried this on, please share about the fit and quality!

YES I got actually got the maxi skirt this morning! I got a size that hit me at my ankles, and I thought it was supposed to be shorted as well. I asked, and they said it was supposed to actually be a maxi, so I got a larger size. And I wore it right away! I completely agree with being impressed by the material– fully lined and nice drape!

A link to some pics of the maxi on me (I'm 5'2'' and wearing a size 0)

I have the navy chevron skirt and unfortunately I hand washed it but hung it dry on a clipped hanger and the length of the skirt got sketched! 🙁 Now the skirt is too long for me. Do you know of a way to shortened it without alternating? Machine dry would probably damage it I assume? I am very upset of myself of doing that. I should have just let it air dry flat. *crying*
