Macys + Talbots Friends & Family sales

talbots sandals

Dress by my friend Khatu, Ray-ban glasses in blue/gold (on sale!), Talbots sandals

Low-heeled neutral sandals are a must for the upcoming seasons…I know several of you were interested in my Talbots sandals from last year (long sold out), so I wanted to mention the cute options available this season. Talbots is currently having a 30% off Friends & Family sale with code FRIENDS30, ends 5/4. Sizes are starting to sell out, especially for online exclusive-styles. My favorite is the Peggy sandal with a low, comfortable block heel, constructed very similarly to my favorite pair from last year. I love all three classic color options, and the touch of gold on the inside of the heel (see stock photo) is so unexpectedly chic. I wore them around all day with no breaking-in needed. Size 5’s are gone in all colors for the Peggy, but I found them to run a little small and a 5.5 fit me snugly. Here’s another look at them:

chambray shirt striped skirt small
Halogen shirt (Pls excuse the wrinkles! Got caught in the rain then stuffed inside my purse)

Here’s a few other leather flat to low-heeled options on sale. Each of these are also available in a light neutral “Macadamia” color or the cognac brown “Pecan” pictured above. I’ve generally found Talbots footwear to be of good quality and comfy, and my friends are always surprised to learn where they’re from! As an FYI, sizes 5 and 5.5 are online only.

Macy’s is also having a F&F; with 25% off most items – lots of pieces that I love are included! Use code FRIEND, ends 5/4. Nordstrom is price matching and I noticed that some of the matched prices are actually lower there than at Macy’s:

1. The SM sandals that I’ve been over-wearing in “blush patent” (see my review and comments on comfort) retail for less at Nordstrom, and have the 25% off applied on top of that.
2. Ray-ban classic aviators (I wore the “brown” here and the “blue/gold” up above) are so easily adjustable for flat nose bridges, and also appear to be priced less at Nordstorm.
3. Michael Kors Sutton satchel – priced the same at Macy’s and at Nordstrom, with more color options in stock at Macy’s. See the pale blue medium sutton on me.

Ah! Thank you, I was wondering about the comfort of Cammeo even though I am used to wear high, pointed toe heels! Thanks Jean.

Hello! I actually LOVE large gingham and wish my squares pattern were a little bigger! I definitely think it's a classic print and I wear mine with everything..work pants, jeans, white pants/jeans, pattern mixing, etc.

Hi there – I find European shoes to run small compared to what I take in US sizing! At M.Gemi I'm at least 35.5 whereas I do 5's in most US brands. Please note the Cammeo pumps are pretty high with a pointed toe, so not comfortable for all feet type! The Tesoro's are more universally comfortable based on feedback I'm hearing : )

Thinking about that gorgeous past post on WHBM with the stunning umbrella, I recently decided to give WHBM a try. Placed an order two weeks ago for an item with product description saying it would not ship until May something. Order confirmation stated expected shipping date was not available. A couple days after I placed the order the product page was updated showing item was in stock and available. Two weeks went by and nothing. I explained above to customer service, and response was "You are correct, the order was cancelled". I then had to clarify that I never received notification that the order had been cancelled. Response was sorry but you can reorder. I then asked for garment measurements, and was referred to the size chart. Who in this industry actually follows their size chart?! Sadly, I won't be reordering.

Your hair is always on point Jean, so gorgeous. I don't know if anyone have ever told you this, but you kinda look like Hong Kong actress Gigi Lai 🙂 Anyway, I really adore your YSL wallet on chain; however, I couldn't find a detailed review on the bag in your recent posts where you featured it. My hubby wanted to purchase this one (light rose as well) for me as a gift for our first wedding anniversary (gonna be my very first designer bag =) If you have done a detailed review already, can you post the link here. If not, can you do a review on the bag soon? Thank you so much and you have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Jean! May I know the insole measurement of the Talbot Peggy heels or your foot length for my reference please? I really love it but am afraid it will be too big for a EU34/35. Would appreciate so much if you could help 🙂

    Jean, love the dress print!

OT but at Nordstrom Rack, they have had several cute Calvin Klein sandals in the style way of the Stecy in sizes 4 and 4.5. I haven't seen these at Nordstrom or any other department store. Does anyone know where these are coming from?

Jean, good to know block heels aren't an automatic no-no for petites! Thanks for the advice. I didn't know you were on the M. Gemi team…maybe a nudge for the spice Poeticas in 37 to hurry up and come back in stock again? 😀

The dress seems a bit too "teenish". I know it's a low waist skirt design but the proportion of the skirt seems off. I think the pleats are too narrow and not helping. I love the talbots sandals but they are still a bit pricey after the sale. I guess I will wait for clearance and hope my size will still be there.

Hi Jean, I ordered the Gingham Jcrew fact shirt you recommended. I like the fit a lot, except the size of the square is bigger (not too big) than the one you already own, I like the smaller size square better. I debating whether I should keep it. Do you think Gingham print is a classic one and is it versatile to be paired with different bottoms? I appreciate your opinion a lot. Thank you Jean.

Jean, I am a huge shoe fanatic and have been considering getting the Cammeo and/or the Tesoro from M.Gemi. Unfortunately only one is available in my true US size. Would you suggest going up on these in general or do they fit true to size?

Hi Grace! I'm biased since I'm on the M.Gemi team, and I can't really compare the two objectively knowing the care that goes into making the Poeticas in Italy and not knowing much about how Talbots produces their shoes. Aesthetically though, I love block heels and don't think petites can go wrong with them at any height, except maybe the really high ones with platform that'd be a little overwhelming. I also consider the Poetics to be mid heels and the Talbots to be closer to flats, so it'd depend on what works best for your lifestyle & wardrobe needs!

Jean, I've been looking for a neutral heeled sandal for summer. How do you think these lower heeled ones compare to the M. Gemi poeticas? Do you think the taller block heel looks better for petites, or the lower heel?

That striped skirt is gorgeous!! It's weird, as I'm getting older, J Crew and Banana Republic is really starting to catch my eyes, whereas 4 years ago I'd die before I'd wear anything from there. Now that I'm walking away from my crazy patterns/Nasty Gal style, I'm loving the comfy and classy look from them.

Thanks for your tips! I own nearly the same sandals than your Talbot sandals and I love them so much that I run through the soles. Now I hope the shoemaker can fix this otherwise I will come back to your suggestions. Happy weekend!
