Soft bow and metallic leopard

Kenneth Cole Petites skirt c/o (old, last posted here), AA dot tights (similar), Kate Spade pumps
Happy Friday! Today’s outfit is comprised of mostly older pieces, except the jacket (no alterations needed) is still available in a bright blue color. I love myself a soft bow and a flattering bell-shaped skirt. Pairing both together, plus a dose of pin dots and leopard print for good measure, gives me an ultimate feel-feminine outfit.

bow top leopard skirt3Continuing along the neutrals and dotted theme, I popped into LOFT earlier this month to try on a few pieces:

Left: LOFT candy dot trench, Right: LOFT scallop button-down and dot pencil skirt (not online)

loft dot coat
I do not need another white blouse, but wanted to try this on for size since I’ve mentioned it in previous posts. The Petite XXS on me fit well and blousy but the sleeves were 1-2 inches too long. I had pushed the sleeve hem up in the photo, and the excess material fell down over the hem making it look 3/4 length when it’s not. As with most white blouses, the material is sheer but not an issue if you wear a skin-colored bra.

This pencil skirt is not online (not to be confused with the shorter length one with pockets in the same material), but I wanted to share, as the fit worked for me off the rack unlike with most LOFT skirts. The waist of a 00 petite had a small gap of ~1″ on me but the hips were very fitted. The material feels like a stretchy cotton and is black with beige polka dots. I would’ve gotten this skirt if it were either in a more interesting color scheme, or a crisp black and white.loft dot coat2 The candy dot trench is very cute – the material looks better in person, with good weight and embroidered (I think?) dots which feels more “luxe” than just printed. I am trying on Petite XXS which fit well throughout as a coat. The pockets are functional, sleeves are 3/4 length, and there is a decorative tab at the back waist. Although I liked it, I have several light-medium weight coats at home which I really love so I did not walk out with this.

Talbots nautical tops
Talbots breton stripes back keyhole sweater (3 colors) and navy sweater jacket – both in Petite P, 30% off

I also had these fitting room photos on my phone from stopping by Talbots. They have a raging nautical theme going on in their spring collection, which gets no complaints from me. They have 30% off everything from now through 2/17. I would recommend this navy anchor belt (see on me), which is not inexpensive for a belt, but feels like good quality. The XS fits me with holes to spare around my hips for jeans/pants, but require extra holes to wear higher up at the waist. The two sweaters above also fit well in size Petite P. I really liked the navy cardigan jacket (has anchor print lining behind the collar and also inside the lockets), which was nice and fitted. Sleeves were slightly long for my arms but can be scrunched up.

I think what constitutes an amazing fashion blogger is very subjective, so thank you for speaking so highly of my site! I don't think there's any secret to time management other than prioritizing and becoming more efficient. I used to spend more time on my couch watching shows, doing DIY projects, sleeping, even shopping, etc, and now there is less of that b/c of prioritization. If you really want to make time for something you're passionate about, you'd be surprised at where you can find pockets of 'free time' here and there that add up – ie. I dread waking up early, but will do so to take photos before work, then work on writing my posts by jotting down notes during my morning commute on the subway. Good luck finding balance in your work and personal life and hobbies!

hi jean! i have the same gap bow top but it is too roomy in the sides and sleeves! i know you said you were going to do some DIY slimming – would you mind please sharing how you did it? The lazy in me wants to just bring it to my tailor but I dont want to drop money on this if it's something I can do myself. Thank you in advance!

This is my question, too! And you look so beautiful <3 I smiled a little when I read that you don´t need another white shirt, for me it´s the same, but finally it ends always so that I buy another whiter shirt :)

    hi jean,

loving your pic. however , i have been a little curious about how you manage your time from a super busy financial service provider to an amazing fashion blogger. for me both of these two jobs require abundant time. i am sorry if this question is too personal.
