Before signing off for a few days, I wanted to wish all of you a happy holidays with your loved ones, and leave with a special giveaway:
From handbags, to jewelry and even a belt – some of my favorite wardrobe accessories are pre-owned designer finds with a little bit of character. I love shopping the secondhand market not only for lower prices, but for the more unique selection. One of the biggest risks in this, of course, is authenticity. I receive so many messages from readers asking to help authenticate Louis Vuitton, Chanel, or Hermès accessories online, and it’s just not something I’m comfortable with doing (especially since I’ve been duped myself!).
When LXR & CO reached out to me a while back, I was intrigued and did some research. They offer guaranteed-authentic vintage luxury goods through sales on their website that last 3-4 days, as well as their Beverly Hills storefront. The condition of items are rated based on an alphabetical scale, and priced accordingly. They also accept returns for a refund (see policy), which is rare when shopping pre-owned items. During the few weeks I watched their sales online, I’ve seen a number of items I already own and love – including LV speedys, the Hermès reversible Constance belt (priced at $412), and these Chanel turnlock earrings (priced at $249):
LXR&CO; offered me something from their sales, but I really wanted to find a special piece for you guys as well. I’m thrilled that they agreed to give away this vintage 100% silk Hermès scarf (in AB condition, with original box) to an EP reader, plus a $20 credit for all new members w/ code EXPET20FAN (type into the “redeem credit” section of your account page). The measurements of the scarf are 34.5″ x 34.5,” and it can be worn a number of ways including draped against a blazer, casually over a tee, or decoratively on a handbag – just to name a few.
Rules: This giveaway is open to U.S. readers only (I’m sorry, international friends!). Winner will be drawn at random and validated, and will have 72 hours to claim her prize. To enter:

Hi April! Please let me know how your experience pans out. After a bad experience with trying a new company earlier this year, I looked high and low online for any poor reviews of LXR & Co. I couldn't find any, but also no reviews at all. They were very responsive to emails and questions, plus I spoke to someone who has visited the actual store in Beverly Hills which gave me confidence. The only qualm I have is that the shipping takes ~ 10 days which seems a bit long compared to other retailers. But anyways, hope your belt works out and please keep me posted on how it goes!
Hi Anna – you're absolutely not doomed. I can't say I know how you feel, but I can suggest looking at some inspiration that is appropriate for a wide range of ages. My personal favorite is Phiphi – I suspect she's several years older than me as she's a mother of two, and some of her work outfits may be too formal for your office, but her casual ensembles are always effortlessly put together and easy to recreate for a variety of occasions. http://www.phiphisblog.com/ Good luck in discovering a style that you're comfortable in, and honing it over the years to suit your age and lifestyle.

The scarf is gorgeous! Wonderful giveaway!
I actually have two Hermes scarves, and I have to admit: they are beautiful. Beautiful design and craftsmanship. Just awesome. Great giveaway!
Thanks for the generous give-away!
That is awesome. I signed up. I love consignment shopping in my hometown for similar reasons, though, because I can find really nice things in my size for a better price and return rate.
I LOOOOVE this scarf- gorgeous print!
Thanks for the giveaway and keep up the good work!
Thank you Jean, I bought a Chanel belt on the site, I have been pricing a Chanel chain belt for a while and with the $20 credit this was in the "reasonable" range so I pulled the trigger. Will let you know my impressions, though I felt very comfortable purchasing bc of a) your recommendation and b) the fact that it can be returned for a full refund. I don't understand why more places who sell pre-owned luxury goods DON'T accept returns, I mean really, I can return a pair of Gap jeans for a full refund, but yet buying something over $1,000 is NOT returnable? What a racket. –April
I have been thinking about this for a while but not known how to ask it, but this post might be the place. You look young because you are young, so you WANT to look older, but what do you see yourself wearing when you aren't anymore? I ask because, for ages, I looked younger than I was and now I'm starting not to, as I peg myself at 10 to 12 years older than you. I still look pretty good "for my age," but I'm at the point where I don't know what I should be wearing as I'm too old for a lot of the things in my wardrobe, but I don't want to look like an old lady either. Some of the stuff you have, while classy and sophisticated on you, would probably make me look that way. I work in a place where there is no dress code, so I have no idea what I should be wearing since there are no ground rules. I want to look nice, of course, but not like an old lady wearing teenybopper clothes (I did that sometimes), nor mutton dressed as lamb, nor like my mother, but what else is there? Am I just doomed?
Thank you for such a great giveaway. Happy Holidays to you too!!
