My Top 5 Picks from the Madewell Promo

Madewell Spring Favorites

There’s a rare site-wide discount code for Madewell (use code LTK20 for 20% off everything) now through this weekend, so I wanted to round up some pieces I own or tried on! If I had to narrow my picks down to 5 top items to check out, it’d be the following:

1. Minimal strap sandals

See on me – I’ve been hunting for comfortable, thin-strapped flat neutral sandals for soo long and ordered the moment I saw these. I tried black since my first choice Amber was backordered, and these are as sleek and slimming on the foot as I had hoped! There’s a little cushioning in the footbed and a tiny stacked heel so these aren’t totally flat, and the price is pretty fair especially with the sale.

Fit: TTS to a little narrow at the front. I’m usually 5 or 5.5 in most brands and got size 5. The front strap is a little narrow across the toes, but is comfy the few times I’ve worn them already and genuine leather may stretch a bit with wear. I plan to try a 5.5 in Amber to compare! If you like more of a heel, these 1.75″ low sandals also look walking-friendly.

2. Perfect Vintage wide crop jeans

These from last year in the Altoona wash are still one of my most favorite jeans! They feature a flattering wide leg that’s not overwhelming on shorter frames, even when I wear these with flats. I’m 5 feet tall and the petite size on me is a mid-high rise, cropped look, while the same jeans in regular sizing on me is high rise, full length look (see regular sizing on me).

Fit: I took my usual denim size 24 petite which fits well throughout. My only complaint would be I’d like the petite rise to be a little higher. If going regular sizing in these, I’d probably size down to 23.

Madewell cardigan tank xs (exchanged for xxs), jeans 24 petite, Schutz sandals 5.5, bag c/o

This sweater vest tank is right up my alley but sizing is tricky. I sized up based on the reviews, but the armholes were too big. My usual size xxs ended up fitting better, but this is not a top for larger chests since the buttons will start gapping. I also tried it on here paired with linen pants.

3. Linen pull on shorts

A versatile favorite from last year. Madewell bottoms run big so these are a loose fit on me with a lot of elastic gathered in the back, but they’re so comfortable! I love the tailored flat front look and the 3.5″ inseam is my sweet spot length. These also come in a longer pant style now, pictured below, but the shorts are more versatile for me.

4. Sculptural earrings

Don’t sleep on these! The perfect cross between an everyday earring and something that make a little statement. The sculpted rib design has the look of elegant vintage jewelry and is surprisingly lightweight for the size. My sensitive ears usually cannot handle chunky earrings all day, but I honestly forget that I have these on.

These pants feature the same flat front, elastic back waist style as the linen shorts. They run big and are loose on me all around, and should fit better on someone who usually takes 1 size up from me. My holy grail linen blend pant is still the drapey Z supply Farah pant in XS after shrinking the length in the washer + dryer.

5. Drape weave vest

Vests have been a key component in my spring / summer uniform (and a key to feeling polished while cool & comfortable). This one is lightweight with a silky feel. See this older post on 4 outfit ideas with this vest and a small adjustment that I made. I wore it twice this week with a jeans and again with a slip skirt & mary jane flats! I have my usual size xxs and find it to be slim fit and petite-friendly.

Honorable Mention: Woven Leather Tote (3 colors)

Here’s a better look at the tote size on my frame. This bag comes in 3 beautiful neutral colors, is lightweight + an awesome size for an everyday bag / work laptop bag / travel or mom tote. The material is a soft woven leather and the strap drop fits comfortably over the shoulders. One downside is the bottom of this tote is unstructured (like the Goyard St Louis totes), so if you like a structured flat bottom then you may need to use a base shaper. The Alabaster color is a newer arrival and looks gorgeous!

A quick note on these denim shorts – I found them to run big like the Harlow pants. Sizing down to 23 fit well and the 3″ inseam is great for someone my height.

Hi Nali, I’m loving dresses from Banana republic (their regular site and Factory) as well as Gap right now! The Gap Gauze tiered dress is also very cute and I’ve heard from some readers who got it for graduation.

of course these all look nice for someone with a 24 inch waist. However, How do they look for a short, round grandmother who likes to hike and only dresses “nice” to go to church on Sunday and an occasional wedding or funeral?😉😬
