This weekend Abercrombie is running their biggest denim promo of the year, with 25% off all denim and 15% off almost everything else! They also reactivated my code AFJEAN for the weekend, which stacks on the promo for an additional 15% off.
The Best Abercrombie Jeans Styles for Petites
Their many styles and 5 length options (!) are awesome but sometimes confusing, so I wanted to review and compare a few of their best options for petites:
- High rise ankle jean – shown on me in “light” wash
- High rise 90s straight jean – shown on me in “medium” wash
- High rise 90’s relaxed jean – shown on me in “medium marble” wash
1. Ultra High Rise Ankle Straight Jean
Without a doubt, these are my #1 most-worn style denim since discovering them last year. And if you’re still gradually branching out from skinny jeans, then I’d start here. These are versatile and practical, and are the shortest, most petite-friendly straight jeans I’ve found that actually have a finished hem (not frayed / raw cut).
Rib bodysuit xs, Everlane sneakers 5, Naghedi mini bag
In this comparison pic, styles # 1 and # 2 look pretty similar, but the main differences lie in the lengths and fabric. The 90’s jeans are full-length style in thicker, more rigid vintage-y denim, while the ankle jeans are a cropped length jean in thinner denim.
A&F size chart indicates that “Extra Short” is designed for customers below 5 feet, and “Short” is ideal for customers who are between 5′ and 5’3.” I’m 5 feet tall and I liked the Short in this style best for just a slightly cropped length on me.
Measurements: Size 24 Short is 12.25“ across the waist, 11“rise, 24.5“ inseam.
Rib bodysuit xs, similar sweater, Hermes sandals 35.5 (look for less), Loewe bag, watch
2. Ultra High Rise 90s Straight Jeans
Compared to my ankle jeans, the fabric on these is a thicker, rigid-style non-stretch denim with a more weathered vintage wash – all very reminiscent of my Madewell perfect vintage jeans.
Since this is a full length style, I preferred the Extra Short length on this one. It hits at the top of my foot when I wear flats or sneakers. The waist fit of these are perfect on me with no gap, and are pretty flattering from the rear!
Measurements: Size 24 Extra Short measures 12.25“ across waist, 11“rise, 25.5“ inseam.
3. High Rise 90s Relaxed Jean
This is the style jean I see all around Boston on the Gen-Z college students, paired with sneakers for a slouchy look. For older Millennials like myself, I think this cut can look age-appropriate and quite flattering worn with some heels. I got the Short length in these to try, and they’re on the long side for a Short jean, so for wearing with flats I’d go Extra Short.
Measurements: Size 24 Short measures 12.25“ across waist, 11“rise, 28.5“ inseam.
They all look amazing on you! Which pair are you wearing in the last two photos? (With the black top)
Thank you Sarah! Those are the same as the first photo, the high rise 90s straight jeans
Really like the jeans you posted, but unfortunately I juuuust missed the promotion. Any idea when the next promotion will be?
I would keep an eye out for a promo around Labor Day Weekend!
Thank you for the review. I ordered 23 extra short in both dark and light colors. The dark colored ones are 1-2 sizes bigger than the light ones and are too big on me. I double checked the tag to make sure they didn’t send me the wrong size.
Have you noticed how much shrinkage these have after being laundered?
That’s unfortunate to hear about the inconsistent two pairs! In my experience, they do not shrink much for me after machine wash and dry
Thanks Jean!
Appreciate your reply Jean. And thank you for all the thorough reviews.
Thanks for the post! Just bought both pair of jeans in a few colors and the cute black jacket and can’t wait to receive them!
I hope you love them!
