Polene bag c/o, Tony Bianco pumps (old), Quay sunglasses
This lace trim pencil skirt has been on my radar ever since I first spotted it – it combines the elegance of a lace hem with all the comforts of a stretchy knit sweater skirt. It can pair simply with a black top, sleek camisole, or leather jacket for a little edge, and based on how you accessorize it could easily transition between work, office event, or date night.

Lace Hem Pencil Skirt
In black & emerald, starting in petite xxs
Love that the lace trim detail brings a bit of a festive flare to the classic pencil skirt silhouette. This has a lot of stretch, but I wish I had gone up a size at it is very fitted on my post-babies belly. I got my usual xxs petite but think that the xs petite would be a more flattering and comfortable fit for me. This skirt would also look so cute over a bump and is long enough to accommodate!
Sale Picks
Sharing a few other pieces I’ve picked up over the past few months that are on sale and well stocked in smaller sizes!
Love these pants and they just came out with a new neutral color that’s fully stocked! They are a mid weight knit twill fabric that’s soft and stretchy against the skin and with a flattering high rise. They look dressy but have the comfort of stretch pants you can easily wear for WFH. They come in both Petite and Short lengths which I get a lot of questions about – both fits are extremely similar (I can wear both) with the Petite being about half to 1 inch longer than the Short.
- cross front v-neck tee – see on me here and here
- knit ankle pant – see on me here and here
These are another pair of pants I reach for often! These are like a ponte “legging pant” and are fully pull-on style with no zipper. They look more casual than the soft twill pants above but can still pass for business casual – see them here as well with a dressier top for a business casual look.
Thank you to Express for partnering on this post.
Is there any rule on matching sweater top and bottom? Prior to seeing this post, i assumed that the sweater stitching on the top and bottom skirt would need to match with exact pattern.
I don’t abide by most matching rules! It’s black on black which I think offers some flexibility
how do you keep tucking of sweaters into close fitting dresses and pants so smooth without the bumps? I just started following you and i love how your outfits and that the outfits are at great prices, Jean
Hi Jenny, for something like this skirt, I used the method where I tuck the sweater inside shaper shorts!
You look fantastic in that skirt!!
You’re too kind, thank you!!
Jean, you mention the difference in the length for the Petite size vs the Short size. But what about the difference in the rise? I don’t want a crotch that’s too long. Thanks.
Hi Jane, I don’t notice much of a difference at all and I purchase both size types from them regularly!
Love it! Just bought the top as I already had the skirt:) Thanks so much!!
Such a chic yet comfortable look!
