From fall through spring, the turtleneck sweater dress is a closet workhorse of mine. It’s effortlessly chic and serves as the most versatile base layer – pair it with booties and a trench coat or moto jacket for going out, and a blazer and heels like this for workwear. This turtleneck sweater dress from Express is a staple with over a hundred great reviews – it’s comfy for all day wear (and bump friendly!), sleek, and the midi length actually works on my 5′ tall height thanks to it being available in petite sizing! Right now it’s fully stocked in both black and cream, but from last year I know the petites always goes first.
Express is also having a big sitewide sale, so I wanted to highlight some pieces in my closet that are included!
Cocoon Cardigan (50% off)
Small sizes are going quickly on this super cozy piece! The ribbing on this one is unique, and it’s a medium to thicker weight, very warm knit sweater. The cut has an effortless slouchy fit to it and dolman cut sleeves. It looks cute thrown on with jeans, leggings or joggers for a lounge chic outfit perfect for working from home!
Sock Style Block Heel Bootie (40% off)
Update: These are the current year’s version
If you have narrow ankles, these booties fit nicely in the shaft but also stretch comfortably! The heel looks much taller than what I’m used to wearing these days, but because the fit held my foot and ankle snugly, they really felt more comfortable than expected. The squared toe shape feels current, and of course I love the range of neutral shades these come in. They’re also great for wearing under wider leg pants or straight / wide leg jeans to keep your ankles warm – one of the top questions I get ever since straight jeans had a resurgence!
High Waisted Stretch Twill Pants (40% off)
Petite, short, regular & long inseams sz 00 – 14
This is a tailored slim pant in a very stretchy, slightly textured material that makes it comfy enough for WFH and all day sitting. Comes in classic colors like black and navy but also a more unique, lovely neutral taupe. On me this is a full length pant (not ankle), and I usually go with their Short inseam as it’s a tiny bit shorter than their Petite.
Other sale picks:
- Houndstooth blazer: See it styled on me with black jeans here
- Knit ankle pant: pictured below. The stretchy medium to thicker weight fabric has a similar feel to ponte pants, and is not as tight or casual as leggings. They’re pull-on style so there’s no zipper or clasps, and the wider banded waist is flattering and provides a little tummy hold in that area. See my full review here!
Thank you to Express for partnering on this post.
I am interested in the black turtleneck dress. How do I get more information. Very interested.
Thank you for this post – I just bought the twill pants based on your rec – so excited! I was just wondering, Express seems to sell more super high waisted options than high waisted options. Have you tried on any super high waisted options? Do they work on petite ladies like us?
I hope you love them! I have tried on their styles labeled “super high rise” and own one pair, but it comes up pretty high for a petite frame.
I would recommend mostly sticking to their regular high rise unless the extra high is the look you want!
Love that belt! When is it going to be available? In the meantime can you suggest something similar?
Thank you! Hoping to have it available in a week 🙂 I don’t know of any similar options, which is why I decided to make it!
Am anxiously stalking your site for it! I have several pieces from your past posts it would go great with! Thank you!!
This makes me so happy to hear! Still working through the final details on the backend, but can’t wait to finally share these pieces with you all and see how you style them 🙂
I feel like you’ve shared petite jeans from express recently but can’t find a post with them. Any chance you have recommendations you can link back to?
I tend to go for their ‘short’ jeans and shared a pair of slim straight jeans in this recent post. With Express, I’ve found their that the Short is the shortest inseam option – usually ~ 1 inch shorter than the Petite.
