Fall always has me excited to incorporate new textures into my everyday outfits, from soft flannels and cozy plaids to more luxe feeling faux suedes and chic leather. I’m partnering with Ann Taylor to share my petite friendly picks featuring some of these elements that can be styled for work to weekend. Right now they’re running a great promo during their Friends of Ann sale – you can use code ANNVIP for 40% off your purchase (ends 9/20)!
Plaid Pull On Ankle Pants
Petite & Regular sizing, xxs – xl
“Pull on” has been music to my ears over the past year, and I love that brands have been offering more polished looking styles likes these which have a clean, flat front waistband but elastic in the back for comfort! The houndstooth plaid fabric is soft and cozy against the skin with some stretch to it.
The cut of the leg is a slightly more relaxed fit, and the petites is actually a nice cropped length on me (5 ft tall) hitting right at my ankles. Xxs petite measures: 9.75″ rise, 25″ inseam, and 12.5″ across the waist when un-stretched. Pair these with a jersey top like this draped mock neck shell for a classic yet super comfy work outfit!
A few other recommendations as part of the 40% off sale:
- Puff sleeve tee – See on me below. Absolutely love the shoulder & sleeve detail on this dressing up an everyday henley. The sleeves are actually made of a different fabric than the ribbed henley tee and is gently gathered, not overwhelmingly so. Petite ladies could get away with regular sizing too for more color choices like the lovely blue!
- Square neck tank – layering staple in a warm neutral.
- Houndstooth blazer – pair with work pants or denim!
Fall textured Peplum Top
Regular sizing, xxs – xxl
This silhouette is a longtime favorite of mine since it’s flattering with jeans, ankle pants, as well as wider leg trousers. I have a navy top from Ann Taylor from almost 10 years ago in pretty much the same cut, and love that they updated it in two luxe feeling textures for fall: faux suede and faux leather (comes in petite sizing). The faux suede only comes in regular sizing as of now, and the of xxs regular is looser on me throughout the shoulders and chest. If you are on the more petite side, I would opt to try the petite sized version in faux leather which fits a little smaller!
Thank you to Ann Taylor for partnering on this post.
You are my inspiration! I been following you from a long time. It has been a quite while that I have been reading your blogs on your site.
BTW, your outfits are amazing.
You’re so sweet, thank you!
Would you consider doing a post on family photo outfit ideas? Many of us are coming up on the “christmas card” photo season and I am really struggling how to coordinate 4 of us, without being matchy-matchy and dressed for outdoor fall weather. Thank you!
Oh man family photos are tough! Figuring out how to dress the family is only the first half of the battle, then you have to get the little ones to all look at the camera at the same time, always a struggle. I’ll be sure to keep this idea in mind, thank you for the suggestion!
Jean, what did you think of Audrey pant? I’m looking for a replacement for a pair of black leggings style pants that were conservative enough for work but in which I could wear a blouse or sweater out of the pants while maintaining a sleek look. Thx!
The material is very nice, like a cross between work pants but with the sleekness of leggings, but they are not ankle length so are about an inch too long on me (5 ft. tall), however the petite length would suit someone about 2 inches taller perfectly. Also they are made with the very current, on trend style with zippers at the inner bottom hems (to wear unzipped split open over shoes) if that is a look you like!
