New Englanders love their duck boots, and for good reason, since you can wear them basically 3 seasons out of the year! With temps dipping into the 40s this weekend, I’ve finally resigned that summer is over and it’s time to say goodbye to sandals for the season and swap them out for more weather-resistant options.
I’ve been a longtime Sperry fan and am partnering with the brand to share their signature Saltwater boots, updated with a quilted chevron upper! I also love the look of the olive, but full black may be a little easier to pair with professional outfits while commuting in inclement weather. I wear mine with leggings, jeans, or fleece-lined tights in the fall through winter, typically in damp to lightly snowing conditions. For similar options, also check out Sperry’s original duck boot in 4 neutral colors and their wool option with thinsulate!
These have a thin fleece lining, and provide warmth while not looking too bulky for a weather-resistant boot. If you’re between sizes, I’d recommend going down a half size. For reference, I’m usually a 5/5.5 and take the Saltwater in sz 5 with winter socks.
Thank you to Sperry for partnering on this post.
I love this whole look. Olive green is one of my favourite colour. I’m between sz 6/6.5, what sz should I get?
Hi Grace, I’d recommend going down a half size if you’re in between – I’m usually a 5/5.5 and take the Saltwater in sz 5 with winter socks.
Thank you!
Hi, I’m basically recreating this outfit lol What size Goyard bag is that? It appears to be the perfect size for me. Thanks
It’s the smaller PM size !
I thought so! Appreciate it
A few things to note about these shoes: They have a micro-fleece lining, making them very warm. I wear them in the snow while running around all the time, and have never had an issue with my feet being too cold. They re durable and last. This is my second season in mine, and they still look brand new. (When I wipe away salt build up due to wear, that is!) They re waterproof. Key for keeping warm! I love the other of other outdoor boots as well, but I find that ones that are waterproof are best because they don t tend to get soggy like others do. They have a rubber sole, making them have good traction, which again is key for running around, especially with kids!
Hi Jean! Love the look. Can you tell me your thoughts on the coated jeans? Are they really stiff? Many of them are and I’m looking for a pair that are semi comfy.
Cute as always : ) I am wondering how you re-tie the laces on the Sperry Saltwater boots? My laces are so long…thank you!
Sorry I just saw this but I just double knot my bow!
So cute and cozy! I love that these boots don’t look bulky and the quilting is always a nice touch.
That is totally the year-round-except-July-and-August uniform in the Pacific Northwest! Great post!
Love the casual, yet still stylish look! As a mom, I spend a lot of time in environments where I need to wear comfy, casual clothes. Your posts like this have helped me create outfits that make me feel pretty, even at the playground! 🙂
Thank you, Beth! My mornings are always at the playground now as well squatting and scurrying after the little one, so I feel ya!
These boots are super cute <3 🙂 Definitely need a pair too!

Hi! If I’m a regular size 6, do you recommend I stick with my normal size or size down to a 5.5? =]
Hi J, if you are always a size 6 then I might suggest sticking with that. I’m usually between sizes so I went with the lower.
I always felt like I’d look like a lumberjack in duck boots, but you make them look so classy and cute! Maybe it’s worth a try. They definitely look cozy and warm! Love the color of your jacket, too.
Thank you, Meredith! I think if you stick with dark colors like navy, olive, brown or black it won’t veer into lumberjack territory!
Hi Jean! I love to see your casual looks like this! You always look comfy but pulled together. Hope to see more of these!
Thanks so much, Stacia!
That jacket looks so comfy! Love this look.
These look amazing! My city just got a Sperry Outlet store too, so I’ll be checking these out the next time I go.
I’m also small like you, and I’m thinking about going with the big kids version to save a little money, too. I usually wear a 5.5 or 6 but will definitely try on first since you said they run large.
Oh I haven’t tried their kids on before! I think your ideal fit will depend on how thick your preferred winter socks are. I’m usually between sizes so actually didn’t size down that much!
These photos made me want to crawl into them! So much fall love! Thank you for this polished yet cozy look! I just got my first pair of Sperry duck boots and they’re everything I was hoping they would be!
Perhaps you could show us some office appropriate looks with all-black duck boots? Thank you!
Thank you, Natasha! For the office, if you work in a professional setting I wouldn’t actually recommend wearing the boots during the day, just for the commute. The good thing about the all black is I pretty much live in black tights during the winter so these will look streamlined with the tights and not stick out too much.
I’m in love with your sweater!! Where did you get it??
Hi Elaine, the quarter zip is from Abercrombie and is linked under the first photo in the post. I don’t think they have this exact color available this year but they have some other cute options!
Hi Jean! What nail polish are you wearing?
Hi Kathy – it’s OPI yank my doodle!
Looks so cosy and cute!
Mireia from TGL
I love your bag too! Can you tell us where it is from?
Hi Michelle – it’s from Goyard!
How is the quality? The soles don’t look as durable as bean boots. I’m just curious.
I haven’t had any issues with my oldest pair (from about 5 years ago).
LOVE half zip fluffy pullover- what brand is it?
