UK Style // Missguided Petites Dressed Up & Down

missguided lace dress wedding guest outfit idea

Missguided lace midi dress sz 0 (runs 1-2 sizes small!) c/o, similar nude sandals

In recent years, I’ve been branching out to shop UK brands more often – not only does their sizing often fit better without alterations needed, but you also get styles that not everyone on this side of the pond will be wearing. Today’s post is in partnership with Missguided, a UK fast fashion retailer that makes both regular and petites lines (which runs fairly small). I put together a dressy and a casual look from them, each comprised of pieces that won’t break the bank.

If this dress looks familiar, it’s because I have a similar one in white from last year! I wore it to my bridal shower and got so many compliments and questions on it. I know some of you missed out, so I was excited to see this one from Missguided also with a petite-friendly fit, and the same intricate details but in a blush pink color (making it more appropriate for wedding guest attire).
missguided petites casual denim shorts bomber jacket outfit

For a casual look, I’d typically style this boyfriend tee and bomber sweatshirt jacket in an “athleisure” outfit, paired with my black leggings and sneakers. I wanted to show it here simply with denim shorts, which I mentioned before run very small. They are high-waisted in style with cuffs that can be rolled down – I’m wearing a 0p and probably should’ve sized up for a more casual fit.

The fit of this tee is true to its name with a slouchier boyfriend cut and little cuffed sleeves. I was impressed that it’s fairly opaque, because I can’t tell you how many white tees I’ve tried on from low end to high end that are impossibly sheer (even with a nude bra underneath)!
missguided lace bodycon pink dress
As for this midi dress, it’s actually in regular sizing but fits like my white one in petites. Please note it is bodycon style so it’s very fitted and runs small. For items so form-fitting, I definitely think a longer length makes it more demure and a little less scandalous. If you don’t want it to hug every curve, try a size up (I probably should’ve done this) and then shorten the shoulder straps if necessary. The material is stretchy and thin with a full lining and back zipper. Measurements when lying flat & unstretched: 14″ across the armpit, 11.75″ across the waist, 15″ across the hips, 37″ total length from top of shoulder to hem.

Missguided currently offers free shipping for US shoppers and has a California-based mailing address for returns. I’ve personally ordered and returned with them before – the shipping speed is pretty good for international and they have a 2 day express option too at a reasonable price. For returns, the customer pays return shipping and it does take a few weeks to process, but I haven’t had any issues with getting my refund.

Thank you to Missguided for partnering on this post!

Hey! Did you ever figure out what size you are for Missguided? I'm trying to order stuff too, and I'm a little perplexed that I'm also a size 6 now! Thanks! 🙂

Hey Jean! Where did you get the shoes you are wearing with the casual shorts? Are they Steve Madden? Been looking for a pair like those.

Love love the dress on you, absolutely beautiful! I want to buy it but not sure what size I should get. I'm 5.1 and about 106 lbs., I generally wear size petite 0/2 or XS Armani/Banana Republic/Ann Taylor & XXS BCBG Maxazria dresses. I thought I'd be a size 2 or 4 (if UK stuff runs small compared to US standard) but when I tried the measuring chart for this pink lace dress and surprisingly it puts me at size 6 US??? I'm lost! Would really appreciate your advice on this so I can order the dress ASAP. Also, the size they show on the website when you order, is that in US or UK size (coz I also saw size conversion chart so I'm confused)?

Hi Jean! Thank you for the information; I was hesitant with the website photo and now realize that the fit is much more appropriate on petite figures!

Hi Jessica! I forgot to take a photo squarely from the back, but the slit is the same length as in the stock photo. However since I am a lot shorter than the model, the dress hits below my knees instead of above on her, so the slit hits at my lower thigh instead of at a more risqué area : )

Hi! It's like a light olive green color. Also I wanted to mention they label it a jacket but it's a sweatshirt (and is unlined)

Hi Shermaine – I think it might, as I found it to run very snug! Let me know how it works out.

Do you mean the dress or other pieces? I'm wearing a 0 in the dress but it's very snug. In hindsight I would've loved to try a size up and see how it fit in comparison.

Hi Kim, I know what you mean – I always ask for my hair to be thinned out a little via long layers. I always just ask for exactly that but it really is up to the stylist's interpretation and skill level, unfortunately. I have a curling tutorial from a while ago but I'm still using the same tools and process. It just looks different as my hair is now a lot longer. I turn my iron up to the highest setting in order to get curls to hold on my coarse hair, but please be careful not to burn your hair!

Hi Krista! It's about 19.5" long. It's more like a sweatshirt than a jacket (it's unlined)

You look fabulous, as usual! I would so love a hair tutorial!!! What do you have to ask for at the salon to get it to curl like that, and then how do you curl it and keep the wave. I keep asking for beachy waves and not getting them. I have coarse thick hair so there is definitely thinning required to get any movement, and the thinning process has not always been a success. So frustrating. It must be possible though! I see other people with this type of hair style all the time!
