Pool Day Outfit: One Piece Swimsuit + Striped Floppy Hat

cute bathing suits for petite women

Each year starting around this time, I get a lot of questions on swimwear so I’ve jump-started my “research” for you guys this season. This is my first time trying LOFT swimwear (online only) and I was very happy with the quality and fit. It looks like most of their pieces are lined with removable bra cups, which a lot of brands actually do not include (which truly baffles me, because who wants pokey nips at the pool?). The fit was great on me with good coverage, unlike ASOS swimwear which I also love and recommend, but their swim bottoms offer skimpier rear coverage.

For covering up, I love the tassel trim on my white cotton caftan from Sole Society. They also have a cute striped one and a floral print one with pom poms. Please note their cover-ups are longer and best suited for someone taller in order to fit like on the models. This one was initially long on me, but as it is 100% cotton I was able to shrink it down in the machine dryer. For additional sun protection, I go for big floppy hats that keep the majority of my face and neck shielded. This striped one is a good fit on my head and is listed as a “packable, crushable” piece for trips – I have yet to put that to the test though!

As you guys can see in this post, I wore this suit twice already over this long weekend! The same print also comes in a tankini, bikini, and sarong wrap. Going through the reviews on LOFT’s one-piece swimsuits there are a few low ratings, but if you give them a careful read, much of those are due to the pieces running small or short in the torso. This could be good news for petite ladies who usually find swimwear to run too long. I can see how this suit in a 0 regular may be too short in the torso for someone several inches taller.

For anyone shopping for a summery tote, I recently got this little summer one from Macy’s for just $36. I wanted something with a poolside vibe but smaller, for times that don’t call for my large Mar Y Sol one shown above. Macy’s is also having a Memorial Day weekend promo with lots of items on sale plus free ship on orders $50+. Would recommend my Maison Jules cotton embroidered dress and these lace-up flat sandals (front strap runs narrow) if you’re shopping that sale!

Buyer beware, Loft does not offer in-store returns on swimwear. I've found Loft sizing to be hit or miss, and I depend on their in-store return policy. I ordered a suit without realizing I couldn't return it to the store and now I've paid $7.95 to basically try it on.

Have you ever heard of voda swimwear? They make push up bikinis meant for smaller sizes, I've heard some great reviews on them. It'd be awesome if you could review their swimwear!! I'm about the same size as you and have such a hard time finding bikinis (and bras!) that fit well and give some lift

Cute suit. I have never tried Loft swimwear. Is it supportive for those of us who are amply endowed up top? I find it almost impossible to find suits that cover the girls and hold them in place and aren't too long in the torso (bikinis are out for me because my stomach needs as much support as my boobs). Swimwear manufacturers seem to think that short women are never busty. My source used to be Lands End, but I'm breaking up with them. Curious now about Loft and Asos.

How does the white hold up to getting wet? Is the suit lined so that it doesn't become see-through?

This is such a cute one piece! I'm glad that they're back in style and I can't wait to find the perfect one for myself. Thanks for jump starting on the research!

JOY! You had me at "runs short in the torso." I usually can wear one piece swimsuits because they're too long! I guess I'm going to LOFT…

You look absolutely gorgeous! I love the swimming suit with the lacey back, very pretty! And yes for the padded bra, I really don't like those without them simply for the decency reason. Btw, I think your arms are pretty well toned. 😉

I love how in depth your reviews are. And the print on that top is GORGEOUS! Seriously on trend for Summer 2016 and padded cups are an added bonus (I like them to give my small boobs a kind of perk haha).
