I hope you guys had a great weekend! I loved getting to see my parents and little brother Schuyler for the first time in half a year. He’s growing up fast, and it makes me sad I’m not there to see it. He’s given Nick a taste of parenthood, dropping the “birds & the bees” bomb on him years ago (while innocently grocery shopping together : ) with the questions only getting tougher since!
ASOS petite Hitchcock dress in 0P/UK4 (also avail. in regular & tall, plus other prints!)
Steve Madden shoes sz 5.5 (runs narrow)
Today’s post is an Instagram roundup answering some of your questions on fit & where items are from. I posted this dress recently and think it fits pretty true to size for ASOS petites, which means it runs a lot smaller than American sizing. A 0p is snug (I’m 32-24-32 and about 5 feet tall, for reference) and the skirt is midi length on me. The material feels nice quality and is like a medium weight, sateen fabric with just a little stretch. FYI, for those shopping for special occasions or bridal activities, an updated version of my ElizaJ white lace dress (see the old one on me) is finally in stock! I have not tried this newer one, but the bell sleeves are shaped a little differently, the length is listed to be 1″ shorter (I had shortened mine), and the exposed zipper has been replaced with an invisible one.
In our suggestions to friends on what to do when visiting, we usually recommend popping into the Boston Public Library, which is one of the prettiest historical buildings here. I might be a little partial though since we got married there! I never got to try their afternoon tea since it was only during weekday mid-afternoons, but they’ve now extended it to Saturdays too. I’d suggest calling ahead to reserve a table by the window overlooking the courtyard. The price at $35 per person is better than other tea spots I go to, and I just may have squealed a little when I saw matcha green tea lattes by the potful on the tea list.
Received a few questions recently on this outfit as well – I got dressed in a rush so it’s an exact repeat from this blog post. My dress is from Revolve earlier this season, but there’s still a few sizes left there. It’s regular sizing but is petite-friendly, plus has elastic at the waist and shoulders for an adjustable fit. Just found the same dress here too for less, but only M or L are available.
I already gushed about these on IG and Snapchat, but I have to share for fellow candy lovers that these Barchen-Parchen (or “Bear Couple” gummies) are available in the U.S. at either Cost Plus World Market or Amazon (pricier, but for those not graced with a CPWM). I already have a weakness for regular Haribo bears, so you can imagine ones that hold hands and are sweet + sour did not last long in my household.
Thanks Jean!
Hi Katrina – I'm not sure what your dress code is for guests, but my only suggestion would be if it's something really formal like black tie (where most women guests will wear long dresses) maybe do the same so you will remain more glam'ed up than your guests. Otherwise, I think your wedding is your day and you should wear whatever pleases you! Old rules are out the window these days.
Hi! Yes I still go to the same one. I'm sorry I don't have any other recommendations!

Hi Jean,
First time commenting, although I've been following you for some time now. I just purchased the Asia petite Hitchcock dress and am in love! My wedding is coming up and wanted to ask your advice on whether you thought it would be an appropriate dress to wear for my wedding reception? I think its great, but am wondering if it may not be glam* enough for me as the bride to wear for the reception dress. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
That Bardot dress is beautiful <3

Jean,
Do you still use the tailor in China town that doesn't speak English? If not- who are you using now or have you come across any other skilled Boston tailors? Thanks in advanced for any local advice!
Jean what is your major ?
I love the sunglasses! I bought those hand-holding gummy bears for my family as a souvenir when I traveled to Germany – they got a kick out of them. They really are so cute!
