Blank NYC jacket xs (runs small), WHBM sandals c/o, Baublebar necklace
This is a super simple pairing from my Instagram of a moto jacket, black jeans + tee, but the fit of each piece helps elevate the full look. It’s not easy to find the perfect slimming, stretchy black jeans nor a tee shirt with just the right casual cut and amount of slouchiness. To avoid fading on black jeans I recommend machine washing inside-out and keeping them out of the machine dryer, unless they’ve stretched out and you need to machine dry them back down to size. My favorite black jeans that you guys always see are the J.Brand “Maria” style which I got hemmed. I’ve linked the Alana style up above (reviewed here), which I confirmed are the exact same cut and fabric but with a shorter, petite-friendly 26.5″ inseam instead of 29″ on the Maria.
I got lots of questions on the nail polish colors in this IG post so will share the info again here! From left to right: Essie Hot Coco, Chinchilly, Topless & Barefoot, and Blanc. I often layer a coat or two of different colors (esp. the last two) to get either a lighter or darker shade of each color.
Also wanted to share this try-on photo of the dress I reviewed at the bottom of this post! If you missed out on my floral fit & flare dresses from Anthropologie or True Decadence in years past, this is a similar option with a little less fulness in the skirt. I was very surprised by the close fit – this is a US 2 / UK6 and fit me as shown, with a little room in the bust area but not too noticeable. Here’s the measurements of the US 2 again: 12″ across the waist, 15″ across armpits, 33.5″ front length and 35.5″ back length. The dress is made well with a medium-weight material (has some sheen), an emerald grosgrain ribbon which is flattering at the waistline, and is fully lined with an invisible back zip. The maker is “London Dress Company” which I’ve never heard of but am now a fan of!
Need a dish idea for Easter brunch or potluck? I saw these adorable deviled egg chicks all over Pinterest and finally tried my hand at them last weekend. Here’s one of the many step-by-steps I found, and I agree with the commenters – would try olive pieces as the “eyes” next time so the entire egg is edible!
This was a snap from yesterday morning’s mini snowstorm – it was beautiful for a few hours and thankfully has melted away by now. I’m ready to store away my winter gear once and for all!
Out of curiosity, I tried this “cherry blossom frappuccino” (strawberries, cream, matcha green tea, and white chocolate) in honor of Japan’s sakura festivals and it was a little too sweet & rich for me. It did look pretty, though, I’ll give ’em that! This featured drink ended last weekend, but a few ladies mentioned you can just ask for a mix of their usual strawberry frap and green tea frap and get matcha powder on top. My lace-up flats are from last year and the color seems to be gone, however Halogen came out with a very similar pair starting in a size 4, plus available in blush and with good reviews!
I love love love that Madewell tee. I wish they had that store in Canada!

Hi Jean, love your outfit! I bought the same baublebar necklace and found that it hangs very low on me. Did you do something to shorten yours?
Jean, my shoes arrived and they are AWESOME. I have happy feet. As someone of the other side of the size spectrum of height and shoe size, I know you can relate to how hard it is to find things that fit and then they do it is magical. Thank god for cropped pants and ankle pants being in style because all of mine fit that way naturally…and now I have cute shoes to boot. Thanks for the heads up posting on the shoes….
Hi! Please read my post above, I listed out the inseam for both and there are also intermediary lengths too in the same "Vanity" fabric on Shopbop.
Hi Dawn, thank you for your sweet comment and I'm so thrilled that you're able to find relevant tips on here. I think classic style transcends size and honestly a lot of the tips like on tailoring can be applicable both ways for tall or short. I hope the flats work out for you!
I think it's inevitable for black denim, unfortunately. You could try just hand-washing more gently instead of going through a mcahine.
It's an older one from Ann Taylor that I love, but I've seen a similar one from them this season also in a light peach color! : )
Hi Dice! I responded to your prior comments about this : )
Hi Anu, I would love to visit Finland some day : ) Happy belated Easter to you as well!
Simple and cute!

Hi Jean!
I find that even when I wash black jeans inside out, they still fade to gray. 🙁 Do you have any brands that you've found that were less likely to fade than most other black jeans?

Hi Jean,
Do you find the Articles of Society jeans to be see through?
Thanks.
Hi, Jean 🙂 Love that floral dress. How come you always happen to have adorable shoes <3. That green coat is great and the shoes with it, too. You could come to visit Finland immediately (lol). Here is my flower bomb. Hugs and happy Easter to You and Nick from Anu, Finland.http://anucca.blogspot.fi/ .
I smiled as soon as I saw the egg chicks on Instagram! They were so cute and I'm sure very yummy as well.

Oh THANK YOU!!! I have been looking for lace up flats for over a year and have yet to find them in my gigantic size of 12, (I know you are asking why a 5'9 amazon sized female who has man sized feet would read your blog about petite styles?…but I do because your sense of style transcends stature—that's why)…Anyway, the Halogen lace up shoes you linked to come in a 12 size and I just ordered them off your link. SO after a year of looking, I finally found a pair thanks to you!!! And see….you thought you were only helping small petite women with their fashion…..

Thanks for sharing these photos on the blog. I love the green coat with the striped umbrella. I will be visiting Boston in a couple weeks and I hope the cold weather is done. 🙂
Does anyone know the difference between Maria and Alana versions of the J Brand jeans? I'm not petite, so I want to make sure they are long enough.
I really hope J.Crew brings their coats back in that green colour. It's absolutely stunning, and I've been looking for something similar for a while now!
I love these pics! The first outfit is so chic and classic, and I love that it's perfect for every day wear. I also love that floral dress!
